Everyone always says that Steven has three 'mother figures'. Looking at the dynamic though, Amethyst is more of a sister to steven, and Pearl and Garnet see her as more of a child, or baby sibling more than anything. She's quite immature, and she's treated the same way as him, and she treats him as an equal. I'm not the only one, right?

Good fan content like this can really fill in the gaps. As disturbing as that episode was, they didn't deal with the implication that we could have lost Amy forever, at least not to this level. We don't really see how deeply Steven is traumatized by all these events until Steven Universe Future, so Artkat is way ahead of the Crewniverse here. It's good that KZfaq is preserving this, since they have disappeared from Tumblr. I'm watching this 5 years after it was posted. It's now June 2020, a little over 2 months since the franchise ended, and I still can't go a day without viewing or reading some SU related content. I never had a TV show or film affect me like this. But I have shifted from being a dedicated fan into a more critical, questioning place. You realize Steven and Connie are child soldiers, right? And that the way Steven was raised, without education, healthcare, or opportunities for social interaction with his age peers, should have gotten the attention of the Delmarva CPS? We watched two children used as combatants in a war, and it was presented as a good thing. We watched Greg rightfully being called out for neglecting Steven's human needs, but never acknowledging that a wrong had been done. The show depicts adults seriously mistreating children, and normalizes it. Then it feeds that to children as entertainment. I have a problem with that. But I still love this show. It is a very uncomfortable position to be in.
