I would say that I'd love to have a Van Stahl, but unless I hook into a big Walleye, Pike, or a good Muskie, I couldn't find anything that would challenge it. I'm not a big fan of spinning reels unless it's an ultralight, but I do have a couple Penn reels and a Shimano Stradic CI4+.

For those wondering how big the tarpon was, compare the size of the tarpon to the massive pier pilings, and notice the girth on that beast. Tarpon are difficult to weigh and measure from 30' above the water, but this one was certainly a trophy which swam away to fight another day.
