I highly enjoyed this! My personal ranking: 3rd place Lionel himself - less emotion then the next two 2nd place Joyce which had by far the best emotion and presence, she's just a tiny tiny bit behind my winner 1st place Artem because it's so clean, those left hand jumps were perfect. Without the studio environment, he might be tied for second place but the raw quality of the recording lifted it up a notch

To be a witness to the talent and the miracles these hard-working, dedicated artists can perform on this one instrument is itself a gift from heaven. This was great! All of them are wonderful pianists, certainly everyone has his favorite. I still like Lionel's rendition the best but of course I would lol! I also always get a kick out of Lionel's facial expressions. Which by the way I will mention here that I was extremely impressed with Lionel's take on Jacob Collier's emotional response challenge to different types of music played. In my not-so-humble opinion laughing out loud, Lionel as more than matching the categories that Jacob used, expressed profound natural from the heart, corresponding to the music emotion with each little clip. And as always his spur of moment Improv was mind-blowing! I would love love love to see Lionel do another such Emotional Response piece again. Which is also why I appreciate it when he angles the camera to capture his face as well when he's performing. Because he's so amazingly expressive! :-)) ❤️❤️❤️ PS Where Lionel at one time had both his face and the keyboard evidenced simultaneously, was in my opinion the best of both worlds. Because we love seeing his lightning hands too. :-))❤❤❤

My favourite was the final pianist. He entirely performed it without sheet music in front of him. (Something that impressed my examiners for my university finals) He also actually went to a full professional recording space. Joyce also performed it mainly from memory, but it was a little too chaotic for me. I also loved Timofey, the changes in dynamics he got where chef’s kiss 😘. Especially his final notes. There is a huge difference between those using a real piano, and those using an electric piano. There really is no comparison when it comes to the sound or the feel. If only I could afford and fit a real piano into my home! ❤❤❤

hello! leaving geography aside , the question as to a specialist in the field of piano music, who is in the first place among the performers of Beethoven ? (and is it possible to play His works on electronic instruments?),,, you can take your time with the answer
@LevitanusPianoIst
@LevitanusPianoIst 9 ай бұрын
@@1olegbor on my opinion, Barenboim now is the first Beethoven performer in the field. He went deep in textological process, as well, as in piano reconstruction. I really like the sound of his later recordings. You can also check Lubimov. He is a high figure in historical piano performance. I also really like old soviet female pianists: Gambaryan, Versaladze. In Symphonic world, still Abbado and Karajan are the best on my taste. Pity, but I'm not an expert in electronic world, so here I am aware of judgments)

I like “very clean”, #1. I love the interplay of forte with pianissimo of the Ukrainian, #2. #3 not my style or preferred interpretations. #4’s passion is incontrovertible, outstanding finale. Certified #5, not very Beethoven like almost boogie Woogie. I think #4 is a finer interpretation than the composer’s own rendition.

I think the type of piano matters, electric piano can't really express out 100% dynamics of this piece. I'm pretty sure if they change to an acoustic piano it'd sound different. My favorite would be the 2nd pianist =)
