"I choose to believe the Bible because it's a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They report to us supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies, and claim that their writings are divine, rather than human, in origin." - Voddie "I'm gonna unpack that for you" Baucham

This is so good. I am studying through the book of Luke. And got supper excited when Luke open his writing saying exactly the same thing.

One of the greatest sermons of all time 🙏 Thank you Lord for having pastors like Voddie and Chuck Messler (may he RIP) who use the Bible to prove the Bible’s authenticity. Charles Lawson always says “Scripture will define itself.” Once you’ve seen both this sermon and Chuck Messler’s sermon jam on Alpha and Omrga (type if in just like that), you’ll look at the Bible very differently- forever. . God bless my fellow brothers and sisters 🙏 It’s our job to convert, but the stumbling blocks are more dangerous by the minute. Satan is moving fast, but God lives outside of time, and knows the beginning and the end, as well as the end and the beginning. Satan is playing checkers and the LORD is playing infinite level chess. Satan cannot win, and one of a plethora of reasons end is bc God can’t lie. It isn’t in His nature. Let’s read what the LORD said about where He dwells while speaking through Isaiah: “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” - Isaiah 57:15 God bless all who read this 🙏

God chose you so you can believe the Bible. Without the Holy Spirit the Bible is foolishness to those that are persisting. We had minds that were enemies to God and His wisdom until He reached out to you. No one seeks God, and no one is good, not even one. Faith is the evidence of things unseen and not human understanding. Lean not on your own understanding. God started your faith and will finish your faith. Your part is to be obedient.

You choose to believe the bible. The bible is antiquated and rife with mistakes. Your belief is based on faith. That faith includes believing that somehow a group of bronze age jewish nogoat herders got everything right. You believe that, out of hundreds of gods, you choose the right one. Even though that god was a war god with a penchant for killing. You believe that the words of the bible are unerring and never subject to change. You believe that everything simply "poofed" into existence because a war god wanted it. You believe it's alright to make excuses for the obvious errors in the bible. You believe the words are good enough and require no credible evidence. And you most certainly believe everyone should believe as you do. Science simply seeks explanations that make sense. Thousands of educated people, of all races, contribute to the process. Science demands proof rather than blind belief. Science encourages finding new data and incorporates that data into its explanation. Science is willing to change without excuses. Science does not make demands or require the death of millions for minor infractions. So then, which one makes the most sense?

Interesting take. I’ve heard similar things many times from friends and such. However, some of the most elite scientists and mathematicians were also hardcore believers in the God of the Bible. Isaac Newton was one of them. He wrote more on theology than he did science. So how can we pin Science and God against one another? They aren’t on 2 opposite sides unless there’s a topic at hand that we can discuss. How the universe came to be would be a good starting point. Although I have a strong feeling our beliefs are opposite of one another, I do like the sharing of ideals no matter the topic. You bring up many good points that should be explored: is there a God? If so, is the God of the Bible the true God? If so, then is that God morally pure and worthy to be followed? Did the early believers tell the truth and get it right? What errors exist in the Bible, if any, and what motives did the writers or editors have to make those errors (assuming they were done on purpose)? Where shall we start? It’s good to meet you. I’m from California, USA (definitely not a Christian following state). 29yrs old. Grew up in a church but got sick of the hypocrites that attended. Turned atheist. Then became a believer while trying my best to disprove God. That’s my background just so you know who you are speaking with. Social media robs us of human interaction so I’m trying my best to make it seem as humane as possible.

And science doesn't explain everything either. For instance, how time, space, and matter suddenly came into existence from nothing. In our universe, we know this to be impossible though by the scientific method within said universe. Life cannot come from nonlife, etc. There isn't scientific explanations for math and so on. You raise good questions and like the other reply above states, Conversations must be had. And not in a condesecensing or judgemental way. But with respectful challenges. We choose to have faith based on the evidentiary methods the pastor describes. There will always be things there are not full explanations for ... which is why it's called Faith and not belief. And you have to have faith to be atheist as well.
