In a lot of games heavy characters are slow and lack range. It seems like Rivals 2 gives mobility and range to their heavies instead of endless super armor.

I wouldn't say so. There's so many ways you can approach a situation as him that even if you're downloaded you can still mix things up.

When a character and or player, essentially becomes predictable, either in obvious patterns or through conditioning your opponent into predictable choices. You "download" their playstyle, inorder to interpret the options they pick, given a situation. For example, will they roll forward or backward? With enough information and time, you're able to predict the option they take with higher accuracy, because of what you have digested through your time fighting them. Ganondorf for example, is a very easy character to download because most of his attacks don't leave him with many options after any of his initial moves. He's a hard hitter and super heavy weight but doesn't mean anything when your opponent "downloaded" how you and your character works. Ganondorf in the beginning of Smash Ultimate was consider actually decent. However, that was only because no one knew how avoid his attacks and his strengths came from punishing people's mistakes. Once the SU community grew to understand how all the characters worked, Ganondorf was pushed down all the way to the 2nd worst character in the game.

Every day I left the venue I was sad I didn't get to play more Rivals 2. I can't wait for the beta as well!

It's so weird playing a version of this character that is actually really good. It's too much fun.

I understand that but I'm definitely biased considering Ultimate is my main game. I think Rivals fans still have a lot to look forward to and while the addition of shields and ledges does make scenarios play out a little more like smash, at the end of the day it's more rivals than smash.

If enough people want it I will. I know there's a lot of people who might want to see that.

Rivals 2 is going to be amazing I can't wait for it

It'll be releasing PC first in the fall and then they'll have plans to expand to other platforms from there. I don't know if the switch is part of that plan

I love Rivals because it takes all the hard but cool things about Melee and makes it way more accessible.

Orcane is super awesome so I'm sure you'll have a ton of fun with them. Rivals is sick and I'm happy to spread the word!

She felt like the kind of character I needed to do some labbing with. She has potential but in the limited time I had at Genesis I couldn't get good as her in time for the tournament.

I think it fills a slightly different niche than Rivals 1. Rivals 1 is a very unique feeling game and Rivals 2 feels a lot closer to Smash. I imagine some players may stick with Rivals 1 because of that. But I do believe that it will become just as good if not better than Rivals 1. The engine is already there it just needs content and polish.

Yes all the mechanics you could expect to find in Rivals of Aether 1 are mostly carried over to this game. The main thing that stood out to me as being different was that you can't wall jump out of Up-Special anymore which nerfs a lot of recoveries but ledges make up for that.

@@kamikeserpentail3778 Maybe it's just because elephants are my favorite animals, not that I dislike anyone else from Rivals, just... yeah.

JV3 means you beat them with 0% on your character. Technically it's a 2-stock but we call it a JV3 because they never hit you. A JV4 is when you beat someone without taking any damage at all. (In a 3-stock game at least).

@@TuesdayTasticMy bad, I just thought a JV3 was another term for a JV4 but for games with only 3 stocks.

I imagine they have workshop or something similar in mind for Rivals 2. Workshop brought in so many people the first time they did it.
