I started riding after my divorce, and I have to say that teaching myself how to ride from KZfaq videos gave me the focus and drive I needed to push onward, and encouraged me as I navigated the obstacles and difficulties the divorce would bring. I only wish I had started riding sooner

I started riding because of mental health issues during 2020 from COVID isolation and the death of over a dozen family members. I was in a bad place. A friend suggested I take a beginning riding course just to see if I would like it. I did, a lot. I've been married 27 years. My wife and I discussed why I needed the ride. I took a long ride to the Redwood trees in Norcal. And when I came back I felt more alive than I had in over a decade. She didn't understand, but she supported the therapy because she saw the benefits. Now three years in she flew down and met me in Arizona this year. She said she doesn't like to ride, but she loves what it does for me. So I have been encouraging her to find her motorcycle moment. She took a three week trip around the UK alone this year and loved it. She came back and said now she gets why being alone was so healing, and so life affirming. I'm glad you are still making content. Always look forward to whatever you have to say and share.

Motorcycling is my passion. I have several bikes and do mods and builds/restorations. Can't imagine life without it. Do something this time..... when you go through a thought process that you might stop riding...don't; you will bounce back and want it again. Ride MORE when this happens, not less. Glad you are back, brother!

I live 40 miles from my place of work. My short commute is up and down the interstate. Whenever I have had a grueling day I have several alternative routes on country mountain two lanes twisties to choose from to go home. Depending on how long I want to spend getting home the routes vary from just over an hour to a 2hr route. I feel for those who do not have these options. They do a mind a world of good.

I just subscribed to your channel. Your insights struck a chord. Back in 2019 I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, that later metastasized to my liver. It should have killed me, but I was miraculously healed of it 7 months later and am have been clear for over 4 years. I took the MSF course 4 months after my clear scans in the fall of 2020. I was 65 years old at the time. Outside of some tinkering with motorcycles back in my youth, due to marital issues, I did not pursue it. I knew now was the time. I am 6' 5" and today a trim 270lbs, but at that time was still physically weak. I looked around for a motorcycle, but found myself to tall for the typical starter bike. I ended up finding a low mileage Victory Vision Tour and have been riding it since. Today at 68, I am stronger than I have been since my 30's. A lot of that is do to my motorcycle. It was my physical therapy. Today, I ride everywhere, both short hops to work and longer tours. My wife, who is older than me, at 74 also rides now and is quite impressive for a late starter. As far as I am concerned, God healed me, and used a motorcycle as the recovery vehicle. I will ride as long as I am able and strive to be the safest and best rider I can be. An ADV may be in my future.

I was under the assumption that your relationship had ended and that's what caused the channel to falter. I didnt want to say anything or ask or pry, but I totally understand. My relationship with my ex fell apart too, and it ruined something I had been waiting for for years. Not the same level as your trial, not even close, but I totally understand why you stepped away. For me the mental health benefits of riding is something so crucial to me now. I deal with a psychological disability and my motorcycle is one of the few things that can get me out of the dark little places. I have quite literally turned into someone who Rides to Live, without my bike I don't know how I'd be able to keep myself together anymore. Bipolar disorder can be extremely debilitating and destroy your life in a matter of hours for good, my bike helps keep me ground. Thank you for sharing Joe, we've missed you.

Getting ready for retirement, I decided I needed to get back into riding motorcycles again after a 30+ year hiatus last summer. I now have a Suzuki SV650 and a Sportster Forty-Eight. Those bikes, especially the Harley, are really good for me, both for the physical and mental health benefits.

I love my 2022 Pan America, I ride it almost everday, and I love my 1988 Lowrider, with it's sidecar. I'm 60, been riding since 10 and I've never given it up. I have had to stop three times due to injuries, which still cause me pain and make it hard to walk, but I'm happiest when I'm riding.

I injured my shoulder riding off-road a few weeks ago. I’m still riding though the pain. Though a few adjustments to the handlebars helps. I’ll turn 50 in less than a week and feeing every bit of those 50 years. That won’t keep me from riding, though.

I have two machines. A KTM RC390 and a Honda Fury. They're my therapists and let me get in a headspace that no person has been able to let me get into. After a track run on the RC or a scenic ride on the Fury I come back like it's been a spa day for my soul. People that have never ridden don't understand how much demand that machine needs from us and how much we get back by giving it.

@LordMcKrakenVonLittleBits
@LordMcKrakenVonLittleBits 10 ай бұрын
@@GreatEgret It is a polar difference. I had gone to the Yamaha dealership to look at a Super Tenere and saw the 390. 2023 with 900 miles on it. No freight or fees because it was technically used. So for a grand less I got an already broken in machine that had it's first service and still has a two year warranty. Never had a proper sport bike before so it's a good one to try out and I've put a couple of hundred smiling miles on it so far learning track basics and it's been amazing. All too often us riders get stuck in a comfort zone. I figured at 46 years old that maybe I should try one out but get one that won't scare the hell out of me and I could learn proper technique to maybe move up with down the road. One of the first things I did was go down to the Rider's course near me when no one was there and do the box figure eight over and over. Hadn't had a bike this compact ever. It's really cool to have such a tactile bike. I feel 20 something all over again.

When I had my bike I looked forward to my commute to work. Got married - became a dad and sold the bike - Freshly divorced I got a horrible bike (CB500 - hated it tbh) then my kids started saying they wanted bikes too so I sold that one as I couldn't lead by example saying it's too dangerous (I seriously think UK limit of 49cc at 16 and restricted 125cc at 17 is dangerous). Now I'm 60, my son is 18 and has just got his first car and my daughter has admitted she can't even ride a bicycle - so the danger of my kids on dangerously underpowered bikes has passed 🙂🙂🙂 ... Now I'm feeling the need.

Its so funny how we chase that bigger must be better mentality then so often find the old or smaller capacity bikes are the ones that really bring forth the childish giggle again:p I went from a sportster to a Honda VFR800 to a Road King to a new Softail standard and never really got the feel as i did on my tired old 1996 Sportster. Few weeks ago i bought a tired beaten 1998 Heritage softail converted to a Fatboy for cheap and my gods did it feel right again! It sneezed oil mist on my leg from the carb. Stank of petrol and shaked my fillings loose but i love every second on the damn thing :D

Interesting self reflection. I too, like so many others have taken a pause from motorcycle riding thinking I no longer was into riding in a parade style of riding…traffic was getting to me and zapping the joy of riding so I sold my bike. Three weeks later I solved the problem and bought another bike. Now, I ride when I want to and avoid riding on and in congested areas. Simple. Lol. Btw self reflection has certainly been a characteristic of my riding experience. Been riding since I was 15, yah, I know not legally, and 69 is approaching at month end. 😢
