You never want to stress the parts when attempting this kind of coupling. Plenty of lubrication and a steady hand is advised. Keep some tissues to hand just in case you need to mop up any excess

Just because you're feeling Hornby, you should not rush into things. Always take a moment think about taking procurations before coupling. I think you should contact your local model engineering society and try your couplings on one of narrow-gauge trains or do a James May toy story and try it on the real thing lol.

At the beginning of this video I thought...yep Sam has lost the plot building big couplings but by the end I found it to be one of your most entertaining videos. I think that what we've witnessed is not the future of O gauge, but of 1:1 scale. Obviously, this is a much easier way of coupling trains together. With some minor modifications (e.g. electric raising of the coupling hook) , these couplings are the future of rail transport! 😉

I have a few packs of Kadee knuckle couplers that can clip into the pocket mount for the couplings on British made locomotives and rolling stock, I can send you some sometime if you want to try them

Amazing Sam and partner :D all them almost dirty references are gold. Also you should look into Helicoil Wire inserts for threads in 3d printed parts. We use them in engineering all the time, they will make any thread in plastic about 50x stronger.

For your O gauge coupling now all you need is a uncoupling hook, some thing like a scafford pole should be about to scale. Love the crazyness

Superb Sam and it is so lovely to see that you don't always live in your loft and shop in Hatton's. Yes my dear wife this year has been dragged round the Newbury model Railway show. Model Engineering Exhibition. 2 visits to Rugby Model Engineers track and 2 days at Bluebells Giants of Steam. Then enjoyed opening a parcel from Hatton's preloved selection. Love David and Lily.
