Rotten luck…Big fan of Vitus frames. I do Carbon repair and recently repaired big hole in downtube of Vitus Cross frame…. Well worth getting it repaired Lawrence if you like the frame and enjoy riding it.

Not bad luck. It’s from sitting on the top tube. You should NEVER sit on the top tube of a carbon bike and the other two guys are doing it while they are looking at his bike.

Darn shame...Vitus was a good brand. Do you think that carbon wizard who helped Justin Levene in the ride across america could help? The Vitus could serve as a backup....time for new gravel bike sponsor anyways. Thanks as always LC. 8:58

I am sure your frame can be repaired. The guys at Carbon Bike Repair (who helped Francis and Justin in the US) will be able to sort you out.

Every time you squeeze the frame, the crack propagates and you de-laminate the carbon layers.

Roll of duck tape and some chicken wire and that top tube should be good to go.

This happens from sitting on the top tube, something many people know you should NEVER do on a carbon bike. But the other two guys are doing it while they are looking at the crack. SMH. People, please stop doing this and ruining frames for no reason. And don’t buy these other guys’s frames used after seeing them sitting on their top tubes. Those will be cracked next.

@@bbikerlawrence I like the helmet. I can't justify the purchase right now, but the magnetic sunglass shield sold me (contacts for astigmatism have massive jumps between the steps that I'm stuck in-between so I'm pretty much stuck with glasses).

With respect to the law and the rules of the road, only one of these two will be held responsible. Bottom line if a motorist is not paying attention 100% but travelling in the correct direction in the right lane and another makes a right in front of the which results in a crash, only one motorist is responsible. Great effort put into the apportioning some to the cyclist but all in vain.
