You were sorta on the right track when landing on the carrier. Only you need to line up your plane better. Also you needed to put down (I forget what its called) it looks like a hook though. Because those black wires on the floor at 10:44. The hook grabs them when a jet close enough to the deck. And slows down the jet really quickly. During that time you reduce the engine(s) thrust. And boom, landed.
