SOUTH AFRICANS are absolutely friendly ppl. I am only 3rd generation freedom slave... my heritage is my family working the sugar cane fields. My great granny came to South africa as a 6 month old baby with her parents, who worked the fields all their lives. She dedicated her live to the Catholic church with cleaning it, right until she died at 105 years old. I am very proud of who I am and my family history.

Grew up on bunny chows and consumed a lot of Indian food when we were starting our careers in Durban. Indian people used to be generally on the slim side. Today one can’t tell an Indian woman from a Zulu unless you see the hair. Really interesting evolution as everyone now consumes a lot of fast food. Been gone 25 years so notice these things. Also intermarriage is a thing now. Wasn’t when we were younger but Indian guys always tried heir chances 😅 Apartheid kept us apart back then. Will look for a curry place next time I’m in Durban, inspired by your video.

Hi Jarred, firstly I enjoyed the quality and vibrancy of this video. You fit in perfectly in that video like a family member lol. Did you know that South Africa has the biggest population of people with Indian descent outside India? To me Durban has a more young, African cosmopolitan feel compared to Cape Town. Strangely enough, I was also there in Chatsworth in November on family business.

Thank you so much 🙏 I truly felt at home in Durban. Yes, I’ve heard that fact before and I believe it. What a coincidence that we were both in Chatsworth in November! Hope you had a great time.

This is what I appreciate about Durban: the accessible African and Indian cultures, right in the city... (watered down or not, they are there). My first encounter with stinking rich Indian people, was in Durban; before that I had only encountered Indian house-house linen merchants. I chuckled to hear that for you the script was flipped. Beautiful vlog.

Discipline and Respect has been forced upon us by our Parents. Many Indians supported the ANC during their struggle for a Non Racial Country. Sadly the ANC has now introduced Racists laws whereby our Children are prevented from University even if graduating with exceptional symbols. An Indian,White or Coloured child cannot dream of becoming a Doctor because this government will refuse him/her permission to enter a Tertiary institution. Most Job opportunities are only reserved for Blacks!
