In this video, I share my unforgettable experience crawling for the first time ever with the FTX Mauler. As a beginner, I was excited and nervous to try out this powerful RC crawler, but I was blown away by its capabilities. The FTX Mauler handled the challenging terrain with ease, and I had a blast navigating through rocks, dirt, and mud. I also share my thoughts on the FTX Mauler and its features, I took it to one of my favorite spots to run my RCs, a beautiful location that I'm blessed to have near me. I decided to take a route I've never explored before, deep into the woods, and I was blown away by the beauty of this place. The FTX Mauler handled the challenging terrain with ease as well as some tips for beginners who are interested in trying out RC crawling. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner like me, this video is sure to inspire you to get out there and try something new. So come along with me on this exciting adventure and see what the FTX Mauler is capable of!
Hope you guys enjoy this video .
Stay safe guys
ChriswithaC :)

Nice video. Crawling is a whole new ball game. Forget what you've learned from bashing and start again really. I love watching the competition crawlers here on KZfaq. And like you say in the right environment it can be very therapeutic I guess. Your lucky being in Wales you have plenty of nice places to go. A slate mine would be a good place. I'm tempted to get one myself. Nice vid Chris 👌 👍

Cracking area for crawling mate, the only thing you done wrong was to go on your own,, crawling is so much more fun with others as you friendly compete with each other on climbs. The mauler is know to tip sideways easily, hex extenders help widen it a bit👌 Look forward to getting you out with a group of us in the future👍

I recently bought a used one of these! With a bit of advice from both the internet and my fab GRCC club mates, I changed the electrics to Hobbywong Fusion SE 1800KV (I couldn't justify the cost of the Pro). It now happily takes 2S and 3S lipo, although I haven't run it on 3S yet (only used it once). I paried it with flysky GT5 controller and the low speed control is immense. I also changed the steering arm for a fancy alu SCX10 "bent" steering arm as it allows you to shave off the bump stops without the steering arm fouling on the diff casing. My next upgrades, in time cos they're expensive, are likely injura steel deep dish wheels (add weight low down and increase width of teh footprint) with squid'nserts and mickey thompson baja pro tyres. However, that's arounnd £200+, so I can't do that for a while!! Also, DO get a metal diff for it, as the OEM rear one WILL fail. They're about £20. Mine went whilst out, so field repairs were done as I had one with me due to knowing that it would happen at some point! I agree with the comment that it's best with mates - we had a club day and it was awesome! But, to be fair, the area that we went into was epic. My first time crawling (i thought it would be very boring, hence the mauler being able to be a rock bouncer), but it was great fun!

Hey I'm glad you enjoyed it Chris but not for me as previously discussed. It can be sort of absorbing in the right area but generally I want to be blasting around. Cheaper than a dog I guess 🤣

Hey there Pete , Thank you for watching , Yeah i get it buddy . Im not 100% if its something ill do loads of , but as you said yes can be very absorbing indeed. And with the areas i run my cars it does provide some nice downtime to walk and enjoy the nature also , i sat in one part of the woods just listening to the birds and trees and it was nice to reset for 5 mins . As you said at least this wont crap on the lawn and then expect feeding lol . Hope your doing well there my mate , Stay safe Chris :)

You really do have to retrain your brain & try to drive as smoothly & realistically as possible.... I started with an FTX Outback Trekka.. It feels soooo strange to begin with, I wasn't at all sure I was going to enjoy it.... Then one day it just clicked & I love a bit of crawling now. I did get sick of only being able to drive slowly & I hated the way a locked diff RC turns (or doesn't). I now stick to crawlers with a 2 speed gearbox & preferably locking front & rear diffs. It was when I bought the Absima Sherpa that I really fell in love with crawlers. Actually, it's probably fairer to say "trail trucks". I much prefer to have the option of crawling or having a mild bash that a full featured rig gives you. I also got myself a Traction Hobby Cragsman & that thing is just on another level.!.. It's incredibly good, you can crawl it really precisely or open the diffs in 2nd gear & rip it around. It's an 8th scale too & it looks & drives incredible. it's also important to choose the correct terrain for the vehicle. Where you're driving there is the kind I like. Also, the customisation is awesome with crawlers, you can really go to town on them for not a ton of money & end up with a totally unique vehicle.! I'm interested to see what you do with this rig.! Stay safe out there mate & best wishes from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🙏 ♥ 📻 🎮 🔋 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚔 🚕 🚖 🚗 🚘 🚙 🚚 🚛 🚜 🏎️ 🏍️ 🚤 🛥️ ✈️ 🛩️ 🚁.!

Hey buddy, thanks for watching firstly your support really does get noticed , as for crawling well I'm hoping to get the bug , I think if funds wasn't a problem and I could afford to customise it how I want it I'll have a bigger relationship with this side of the hobby , trying to not put all my eggs in one basket at the moment so to say to keep you guys enjoying my ideas for videos , I really would love a old skool looking trail truck that's capable . Maybe I should look for a nice body for the Mauler and along with that I know I do need a b tter motor than what's currently in it , one of my subscribers and fellow KZfaq channels is likely donating a hobbywing 1060 for it so this should help massively bless him . Fingers crossed should all come together soon . Stay safe there my Celtic brother . From Wales UK with love Chris 🤙😎

Hey buddy , Thanks for watching really grateful , Never tried crawling before so this is all alien to me . I've been looking at the Hobbywing 1080 and a Holmes Hobby 550 12 turn , and thanks for the suggestions in tires as these are terrible . Stay safe Chris :)

Mauler is great 👍 did well i think, hyrax tires are brilliant, sometimes when you think it won't grip it will find it,and that's really satisfying 😀 check out maxee off road rc,his crawling/trailing videos are amazing, very scale and realistic, thought you did great for first crawl dude 😀👍👍

Hey buddy , Hope that your well . Wow it was a gamble this as its completely foreign to me to be quite to go slow , yeah sure ill check out his videos . Tires as you say are lacking , also to be quite honestly i need to work on the Centre of gravity and flex also to get the car to lean more . I hope the video was not to slow for some as its not what i normally do at all . it was on the other hand a nice change in pace . Stay safe there Chris :)
