Seems like a case of reputation over stats at the beginning. The move to Liverpool will have boosted the non all 20 keeper and made him the US number 1 which in turn will further boost the national rep he has.

The “ worse keeper” got picked more just for the simple fact he isnt much worse and st a bigger club if the other one went to man city or something at the same time he would be around the same caps depending which team does better

Tom im thinking maybe they conceded quite a lot of goals was because the fact that Newcastle and Liverpool were in the same league and they faced each other quite a lot of times including maybe some champions league matches and other domestic cups

Oh man it’s almost exactly what I asked for! thanks Tom for doing a goalkeeper experiment I just started playing FM over fifa this year and this kind of experiment really helps me learn the way the simulation works

The better keeper was injured so he wasn't for sale at the time so the next best to buy goes to Liverpool and that's how their paths were changed. Really simple

Are you simming in full detail? I suspect that's the main reason why the lesser keeper is doing better. The quick sim engine relies heavily on CA and reputation

@tomfm idea for you, use the in-game editor to make a team full of media dream eleven in each English playable division (conference north/south) to see if it would win the league, do this for each league! That’s 7 videos out of that idea

What is his role? I assume that if you’re the best GK in the world, that means you can play Sweeper Keeper (Attack) role.

All things being equal, if I'm the US manager, I'm picking the keeper who is consistently playing bigger matches against tougher opponents, and holy hell does that statement hurt as someone who loves the MLS. And, as much as I enjoy Orlando, they're really only a mid-tier MLS team, which is probably equal to League 1 at best. Between them and Liverpool, I'm picking the keeper at Liverpool.

Can you try the same but with a defensive midfielder? Defensive midfielders can be quite intriguing as well to see if they will stay in the position or they become either center backs or center midfielders. Perhaps make them based Greece as a Greek defensive midfielder won the 2004 best player award and during their peak(2002-2014), they had very good midfielders(at least during international games) with defense as their biggest strength. Perhaps Panathinaikos and A.E.K. could be the teams as they were the teams that Basinas and Zagorakis were in their peak in 2004.

Not perfect goalkeeper in this scenario went to Liverpool and had much higher expirience and most importantly REPUTATION. Little less good goalkeeper but 5 star rep 200 Current ability goalkeeper vs 3 star rep 200 Current ability goalkeeper. Tables turned when Perfect 20 won league with Newcastle and his rep became Worldwide while not perfects goalkeepers dropped to 3.5 stars and Continental.

What about Personal Attributes? Maybe the other keeper is more consistent, handles pressure better, etc. Hidden attributes must also play a factor

Maybe the GK at Newcastle has less games because he has more at the club before🤔 But interesting that it isnt that important to have all 20s than as an Striker

They're duplicates of each other in the pre game editor so they had the exact same hidden attributes

This is a bit stupid.. it’s because although everything is listed as 20 the game does not allow for it. If you do a bit of math on each attribute point and how it affects the players CA you might understand it. CA/PA is max 200.

Just call them number 1 and number 2. Saying "the perfect keeper with 20 out of 20 for everything" multiple times is hard on the ears, so must be for you too. You said it in the strikers one so why didn't you? 😏
