On this adventure I hike into the mountains to metal detect some old stone ruins and find something worth the walk laying right on top of the ground.

The 1852 Trime all day. The leatherman is nice and functional but... Only 18,663,500 trimes were minted that year. They were only minted from 1851-1873. What a fantastic find. Thank you for another awesome video. 👍💯

Thanks for the hunt and particularly the wonderful nature photography! I’m so glad to find a metal hunt that doesn’t repeat and repeat “ggoooold” or coins, or Treasure. You are happy to have a three cent coin, a silver Spanish whatever, or a button. I’ve unsubscribed from my first detecting video that I watched for years because the “treasure hunt” was the interest, not the interesting things that made the things treasure. That along with the 1000th widget which made it as interesting as grubbing up bottle caps and pul tabs. You have a great eye and a channel worth watching even if it were mostly pictures of flora and mushrooms!

Hey Brad, Your finds may be less than amazing to you. But most of them are things many of us may never have seen in our lifetime. I am seventy five and did not know we ever had an American three cent coin. Now thanks to you I know that. Thank you.

Brad Martin: I admire your content and very much appreciate the way you encourage viewers to 'like and subscribe or just come back next week'. It's needlessly effective for me because I am subscribed and do come back each and every week, but importantly appreciate the fact that, while I know that you do appreciate the new subscribers, you but do not BEG for it because you've no need for it because your productions speak for themselves - absolute quality. TY!

So enjoy your discoveries, and commentaries. My hometown of Fontana California was famous for its large hog farms before the Kaiser Steel Mill was built there to support military efforts in WWII. We would go digging in the empty fields where one hog farm had stood many years before. Some of the finds included hand painted marbles, Orphan Annie Radio items, doll heads with the sleeping eyes made in German by Steiner. Railroad locks and tableware from the Southern Pacific Rail Road, a metal tag from RKO Studios, sterling silver silverware and watch cases, coins, cast iron toys, and jewelry. A friend found a old tobacco pipe with the face of a soldier with lamb chop sideburns and plumes coming down from this helmet. He was about to throw a blackened piece of metal away, but decided to keep it. It turned out to be a large silver brooch from China, with a dog playing with a ball under a tree. Trains full of garbage from Los Angeles would be dumped there for the hogs, but what interesting items found their way there also. Brad, have you done much detecting near Pittsford Vermont? A kinsman by the man of Roger Stevens Jr., had built a grist mill there before the Revolutionary War. I can't help but wonder if some of your old finds came from my ancestors or people they may have known there in Vermont. Thank you for sharing.

Since many old clocks were weight driven it is possible that the small pulleys are from them. The weights were suspended from a string that went up around a pulley then back down to the clock works. Love your channel!

Nice find on the Leatherman! I've had a couple of the mini versions and unless you lose them the airport security because you forgot to take it out of your carry-on 😢 or leave it in the elements to rust solid, that tool will last you the rest of your life. They are extremely well-built! One of the few things that still are.

Brad, The windows in our late 19th century farmhouse had sash weights which allowed the windows to open up or down and remain in that position. They were boxed in on both sides of the windows with the pull off the top. IN hot weather we could open the top pane down and the bottom pane up for cross ventilation Cheers, Rik

You found my leatherman!! (I've never been to Vermont). I did lose that exact model 2 years ago and I'm still heartbroken. Until today I'd never heard of a Trine coin. Cool. That wierd bobble/buttony thing ... maybe it used to be more round or oval and got mushed. If so, maybe it was a decorative bauble that would hang off of a curtain tie or some such? Curious.

At a guess, your small hollow brass gadget might be the decorative knob off a hat pin. It's about the right size and weight, and the small hole would fit the shaft of the pin.
