Standard size planners are may favorite size for daily planning. When I realized it was possible to cut down the Hobonichi Cousin to standard size, my mind was blown! In this video, I’m sharing how I’m using a standard size hobonichi cousin. I’m showing what’s missing, what’s not, and how I’m successfully making this system work for me.

I get more and more excited when I see people use standard size. Hopefully, planner companies will cotton on and start making more books in the size.

This is great. Your excitement is contagious. I’m using a B6 staology and considering cutting the cousin down to a B6 size. Oh all the possibilities. I love it.

I just got the Hobonichi cousin spring start and had it cut down to standard at Office Depot. I am in LOVE!!! 😍 I had missed my cousin but found it too big to carry with me. Now it meets all of my needs, and I’m thrilled. ♥️ It’s housed in a standard Moterm TN. I have 2 other inserts, making my system complete. Thanks for the inspiration!

I cut my 2023 hobonichi cousin down to a TN and I actually love it i folded my monthly and weeklies in only because i have already written stuff in it. I will be doing it next year to my new planner. It just works! Thanks for being part of the inspiration to just do it.

A bit late to this video but I hope you didn’t and looked into sterling ink common planner first they offer this with everything monthly, weekly and daily with trackers

Ummm hi I don't normally leave comments but OMG I GASPED when I saw the title??!! After your explanation though, I totally get you!!! I have always had this wish of having everything the Cousin has to offer in a standard or even a Hobonichi Weeks size because it would be so perfect for me!! I never thought about doing it myself though so this was fun to watch!! You're so enthusiastic and I love it! Also, your writing and style of planning are so pretty and feel very personal! Definitely loved that you made it into a standard size. I ordered a Konbor Standard size that is a dupe for Jibun. It has a weekly layout & that one I will be using for work. I think this is a great size.

Yes! This way, I find the bright colors don’t really overwhelm the monthly and weekly spreads too much. Let me know if you try it!

You could buy a kinbor A5 daily planner for this, it's like this Hobonich Cousin, but without the weeklies

I did this for 8 months last year. It really is so good and easy to use. Very efficient system.

What a fabulous idea! I love the standard travelers notebook and a one book concept is my dream planner. The weeks is too small and the A5 is too big. Love it!!

I love that this works for you! B6 is more my ideal size. I’m wondering if I should try cutting down a Techo to B6.

Thanks Nikita! I love the B6 size, too. I’ve definitely seen where people have cut down the Cousin to that size and it works great. If you’re okay with re-dating it, it might be worth getting an unused, previous year version (maybe on Facebook) to try it out to see if it’ll work for you. Let me know if you do!

Hi Kylie! I actually made that myself in Canva. I do know, though, that Hey Planner Girl has a freebie 2024 calendar in standard TN size. You should be able to find it on her Instagram page.

Me too! Catherine from Sterling Ink did confirm that she’ll be coming out with a Standard size planner like this for 2024, so that one may be a good option for you. I can’t wait!

I love this. i want to do it to my current cousin the A5 is just not my size, but i dont want to loose the jan-mar pages i have already done. What is the measurement of the cousin once u have cut it down?

Hi Kylie! When I first tried this on my 2021 cousin, j just folded those pages that I didn’t want to cut off in. So they would be like a foldout whenever I wanted to go back to look at them. That could be an option for you too. The final width of a standard notebook is 110mm, around 4.3”.

I don’t know of anyone who sells a cut Hobonichi Cousin but Sterling Ink has a 2024 planner that’s exactly this size and layout. It’s the N1 (TN Standard) Vertical Full Year planner. There’s a preorder going on for it right now on sterling-ink.com. It ends 7/9/23.

I went to Office Depot and I asked the person how much it was going to be and he said 75 cents. But he didn’t charge me because he was the only one there and had just gotten a few customers needing help 😂👍🏽👍🏽

Hey... Where is everyone going to get their notebooks cut... I've brought my Hobonichi to 4 different Staples/office max/office depots and no one will cut it...

I’ve gone to a few different Staples. As long as they have a copy center and a paper trimming/cutting machine, they should be able to cut it. You have to mark it for them in advance. And they may charge $2-$3 per cut, though, if the isn’t busy I’m sometimes not charged at all.
