Honestly, I couldn't spot a single imperfection in the Odysseus at that level of macro. Absolutely incredible!

I appreciate the disclosure at the beginning, and even though I'm not the biggest fan of the nautilus design, the Lange looks to much like it was made for a leather strap, and not a Water Proof All Steel watch like the nautilus. It just isn't as distinctive and purposeful lookin.

The Lange has one big benefit over the Nautilus and Oak. Till today no Rapper rapped this watch with diamonds.

I absolutely love Lange’s design language across the board. I can appreciate the “big 3” and their contribution to the world of horology, but A. Lange & Sohne just does it for me.

I started off hating this watch, I’m still not loving the overall look of it... but I can’t argue with all those tiny little details and how well it is built 😌

Two humble suggestions to the brilliant folks at ALS: (1) At a quick glance, the bracelet links near the case appear irregular. The reason is that you have 4 or 5 different shapes of links grouped together, and the brain perceives this as a haphazard arrangement even though it isn't. A smidgen more uniformity in the bracelet would be very welcome. (2) I think you did well to preserve the circular case instead of going square like PP or octagonal like AP. But perhaps you could add just a little flare to the LUGS (maybe a bit more angular, or more curvacious, or integrate them into the case seamlessly) and differentiate this piece from your usual dressy offerings?

A&S is something which is over reality yet something so familiar and cozy done with an exceptional perfection. Absolute.

As a generally very happy owner of an AP RO 15450, and having had a good time spent trying this watch on.... I didn’t really like the Odysseus at first but I would now swap the Royal Oak for the Odysseus in a heart beat. Living with the general inconvenience of adjusting the bracelet of the RO, even in comparison to an old Rolex, just makes you very aware of the lack of practical design attention in such a high level watch. The micro adjust bracelet to me, is the perfect tactile representation of a watch that has paid close attention to detail at every single stage of the design. It is spectacular.

To be honest I want one right now... Such a gorgeous timepiece. It is different and I love it. Functional yet elegant. A very german watch. This perfection in detail. quickset for day and date. Functionality and aesthetic combined with pure quality. The only sad thing being that I will never own one because I am simply not in the financial situation to afford it.

I like round shapes. If I had to choose from the “big three”, I would take the overseas. If I had to choose any sports watch, I would choose the odysseus

Im so Glad Lange made this finally, it can fight AP royal oak and PP nautilus, actually I would choose this any day from these wathes its classy sporty yet elegant, the only competitor which this watch has is the VC overseas.

My personal taste, I'd take an A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus over a Patek any day it was offered to me. A Lange watches are always finished impeccably, but my tastes run more towards the designs of A. Lange watches. But that's the great thing about horology, there are watches out there for every personal taste, and no one has to make an apology for owing and wearing what appeals to them!

The A Lange and Sohne Odysseus is a beautiful watch. the design of the watch is original, it doesn't look like a copy of the AP Royal Oak and PP Nautilus. I like the big date and day on the dial. I like the transparent case back.

There’s no doubt that Lange built an incredible sports watch that walks circles around the 5711, but it still just looks off to me. I’d take an Overseas 4500V over both.

I already want it more and I have never seen one before. I like Patek who doesn't but Lange makes the best watches of any major company.

For those who think this doesn’t look good, go try it at an AD. It’s totally different in real life. It changed my mind.

I truly lust for an ALS, the (an) 1815 chief amongst them, but not this. I suppose if the funds were endless then maybe, but even then not sure this would be at the top of my expensive sports watch list.

I love how A.Lange Söhne always prioritizes the original purpose of a watch. Provides the wearer easy to read time. The fact that they made the guards functional is so German that it speaks to my soul like no other watch company. I can't afford the Lange 1 I lost for in this lifetime. But I now must have a German watch with a German caliber. I think there will be a Nomos neomatix in my future.

I must say, you've got an extremely good copy of the watch. The engraving on the balance bridge is one of the most sophisticated variants I have seen, having so little empty space. It's even better looking than in the official photos.

I think that a bit closer rival would be Overseas when it comes to the shape alone, although I can see how the crown guards can be compared with the shape of Nautilus. Realistically, someone wanting a Nautilus would more likely be comparing it to the Royal Oak as both have somewhat similar shape and level of hype around them. I do agree with the fact that Odysseus is superior to all 3 when it comes to the level of details. It also strikes as a more modern and innovative choice. I would probably still prefer a Datagraph or Lange 1 when I'm at the point where I can afford one...

The quality of the Lange and sohne is from another dimension, no watch company comes close, not even car companies like Rolls Royce, Lange and sohne is absolutely stunning epic pieces of human at its best of the best.

I tried the leather vs non leather at a boutique, the leather / strap version is way better for this watch, but the blue dial is nice. Good if u can get it at retail/if you r already a prior als customer.

The A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus is beautifully conceived, and crafted to a much higher level than the Patek Philippe Nautilus. But let's be honest - that was a sales pitch. Thing is, it wasn't necessary - I love looking at the Odysseus, and I'm not sure why the Nautilus is still being sold.

I would love to have one! I love A. Lange & Sohne Time Pieces - Engineering, Durability, Beauty Combined! I would Love to have several in my collection! I also want the Triple Split Chronograph. The Odysseus is pure beauty!

It is like L&S build its watches on a 4:1 scale and then shrink them: the level of detail is simply insane. As for the Nautilus, it suffers from being just a copycat of the Royal Oak, which was the true revolution brought by Gerald Genta into the luxury watchmaking: very well executed but not really original. I guess people looking for a Genta's watch would not look at the L&S and vice versa

Problem is, the A. Lange und Söhne Odysseus is even harder to get from an AD..

I believe that an Odysseus to ALS is what a Cayenne to Porsche. They're unarguably very solid products, but their purpose is to be a cash cow, so that these brands can produce other, more desirable products. If you knew them, I think you'd know what model you'll get.

I thought it would grow on me, it hasn't, it just doesn't work with this bracelet, something's off.

Got to say, if I had the money, it would be the VC Overseas.

Unfortunately many so called watch enthusiasts criticized this watch immediately after launch. Similar to the Royal Oak and Nautilus, the critiques will likely give way to praise as this piece (and model family) continues to be admired and lusted after. Lange spent years developing this and it shows in the splendid details. An argument could be made about the bracelet width relative to case diameter, or the link pattern, but these criticisms are so weak in comparison to the strengths of this piece. It is safe to say that the influencers, or perhaps “Haters” in this context, will be proven to be so wrong time and time again as this model continues to grow in popularity. With a recent Phillips auction result of $81,900 it’s clear that people with the means are already investing serious sums to possess this instant classic. Lange is due to grow in mass appreciation and perhaps 2021 will be the year for them to do so.

I think I like every A Lange & Sohne I see. Hope to own one one day.

i still remember when the Odysseus came out. it was truly an event! it'll probably be equally impossible to get an Odysseus than a nautilus. Lange only produces about 5,000 watches a year total. a lot less than PP.

Did not expect the band to surprise me the most. That adjustment mechanism is genius.

That ALS is an engineering marvel. But we all know that's not how this game is played. The discontinued 5711 just shot up by 80% in the secondary market. Mr. Stern surely has a trick up his sleeve with a new one coming soon (I hope so).

Sleeper hit, the second it came out and not everyone was crazy about it. It had instant sleeper hit for me. This watch will become more and more classic over time.

I've never had a "grail watch" before. I've never seen one that I thought was actually worth €28.000 before. And I've never actually thought about the logistics of paying that much for a watch - until now. I'll never be able to buy it, but I would like to. Maybe through some miracle of chance some day...

A Lange make some truly incredible watches, what stops me from wanting one though is simply taste, I love the svelte case and elegant dials of a Patek and my skinny wrists can’t accommodate a chunkier watch. That being said, this is an amazing watch, but it’s not a handsome one.
