Not really, The Federal Reserve's was created through an act of congress, and its leaders are appointed by the government. Because of this it is part of the government, and thus public not private. (This is not a defense of the Federal Reserve)

Do you not improve your knowledge of what is going on at least superficially? Would you rather Jerome Powell and others do things to this country and not be asked questions? The money is being paid to the Senators whether they hold committee hearings or not. The money is wasted by definition on salaries, pageantry, and perks for Congress. Don't you think they should have to do something besides destroy the country to earn the money? Is it just Senator Kennedy you dislike? Or all Republicans?
