This song reminds me of my friend Susan, back in the late 60’s early 70’s we were in Jr high, Susan was a scrawny little girl, we had a school dance and Susan’s parents were there. Her dad walked onto the stage and asked Susan to join him, this guy was next to her dad, he sang this song to her and when he was finished he proposed to her, our mouths just dropped, but she said yes and her dad gave his blessing. Susan said the only thing her dad made him promise was that Susan Was to graduate from high school and for her to not get pregnant until after she graduated, and the guy kept his promise. As far as I know, their still married, the guy was a close family friend of theirs

@@moonlighteternal8024 I miss her, I lived in Fontana California at the time and we would get these real strong Santa Ana winds and my friend Debbie and I would hold Susan’s hand because she was so skinny we were afraid she’d get blown away Debbie and I have been like sisters since 6th grade and we’re still that close and we’re 65 years old

70 here & I do too. Long for the days of romance instead of the wham bam, notch his handle & move on of today. Over the years I’ve learned that alone is better than being with the wrong person tho. The only thing worse than being alone, is when you’re with a spouse who’s never really there for you & you feel more empty than if you had no spouse. Yeah, alone doesn’t have to mean lonely. 😊

Yep... we were fourteen. Her parents had a summer cabin down the streets from grandparents. Seen her over a couple of summers, then my grandfather had a heart attack, and he moved closer to home. First love...first kiss...big heart break!

I forgot this song. I love it !! I was about 13 or so. My home life was not the best so I used to take a transistor radio and go walking with my music for as late as I could. It was my therapy. And I always loved when they played this on the radio.
