In LOVE with the attitude of the first girl, its perfect; no one can gatekeep photography or art and I wish more people lived without fear of not knowing enough or not being good enough due to technical education. The world of photography would be so much more diverse and exciting, I can’t imagine how many interesting perspectives have been kept hidden due to this fear.

"Things do really just exist on screens now and you've got, like, a three second attention span. And you notice that you go somewhere and see a beautiful print on a wall and you'll stand there for minutes. That is the power of the physical object." RIGHT ON!
@Es_Tay
@Es_Tay 7 жыл бұрын
I love so much that the first girl has no training, knows nearly nothing about the technical side of photography! I've always wanted to get into photography but I've always been put off by the amount of technical stuff. I have a really nice expensive camera that I got as a combined Christmas/birthday present one year from all of my family. I haven't really used it because I felt like I was never good enough/don't know enough. Maybe I will pick it up again now.
@Eli-pc2ux
@Eli-pc2ux 7 жыл бұрын
Try doing some research and then just doin it maybe :) you cant expect to get into it and immediately be super skilled, its something you have to practice and work on. So my advice would be to just do it, take your camera with you everywhere you go and whenever you see something youd like to photograph, photograph it ! :)
@imssomnia
@imssomnia 7 жыл бұрын
The best way of learning is taking pictures and practicing. I'm on a photography course and I've learned more by myself practicing that what I learned in school. You'll learn the technical stuff along the way as you need it, and we have the luck of having many amazing youtube channels that can solve any doubts we have. So pick it up and go shoot!

Same here. I just want to be a photographer but I have no actual training :))) it's fascinating what ambition and passion can make. I still don't know a lot of things but I am working on this and I try as much as I can to improve myself. no one really told me how to use the Manual mode, for example. Yes, I've been told, but at that point I didn't have a dslr so it didn't help me too much. and when I got it, that person was no longer there to explain me things. I realised that the best way to learn is to do it by yourself. I went out and tried the M mode. shutter, aperture, ISO, WB and all those things and now, after one month, here I am, changing them without even looking at the settings. it's just about how much you wanna do this.
@TraciCuber

You shouldn't give up on something just because you don't feel like learning rules and technique... you are lucky to have an expensive camera. Learn to use it :(

search youtube for Bruce Gilden (one of the greatest street style photographers) and watch his process, the truth of the matter is staged street photos take away some life from the shot and remeber you probably never see these people again in your life, so there's no aftermath to stop you from going for it, build you confidence and just do it.

"I kept having to buy new cameras on eBay every week, because they were just breaking, because I was taking too many pictures." That format is so magnetic, once you clic "Play", there's no way back. That scouts deep into the artists' work and mindset... we want more of this, rather than just watching pretty images surfacing. No more hollow volume, just density... all we need for our hearts to beat and our brains to tick.

These photographers are all very great but the images are pretty basic for modern day fashion/edgy photography. Harley Weir started this style with her warm colors and also staged "raw" look. No hate though I couldn't photograph that. There are many other photographers who have unique and individual styles that are never featured on these sites. They create art that is not really expected. Here are a few: Alex Currie (his newer work), Tim Walker (Campbell really has a similar style to him), Jenny Woods, Alessio Albi, Alex Stoddard, Romina Ressia, David Gomez-Marstre, Lissy Elle, Lauren Withrow, and many more. The next gen of photography is more about fame than the art itself (look at instagram famous photographer Brandon Woelfel) wish we could get back to the art.

Anyone can take photographs especially digital. But the pure art and mastery is in film. It’s not about Gatekeeping it’s about learning your craft and it may take some years, those who want to really master analogue photography. Maybe people today don’t have the patience or even intellectual capability to do so especially now every other person has a syndrome or attention deficit.
