Most of the modern cars have hill hold regardless the hand brake is electrical or mechanically wired, it won’t go reserve during hill start anymore. BTW, International Driving Permit (IDP) is currently not required for HKgers to drive in within the EU, the good of having one is that you can have a proof of your driving license while waiting for the exchange as you need to send the original HK driving license to the transport department which makes IDP become the proof during that transition.
