Siddharth talks about his 'pure' horror trilingual Aval / Gruham / The House Next Door (directed by Milind Rau), and how horror as a genre hasn't been respected in India. He talks about completing 15 years as an actor, his fondness for the films that don't work at the box office (Striker, Kaaviya Thalaivan), how an actor is just a commodity, about the genesis of the name of his production house ("Etaki Entertainment"), how we celebrate mediocrity, and about working with directors like Mani Ratnam, Shankar, Prabhu Deva, Rakeysh Mehra, Balaji Mohan, Deepa Mehta, David Dhawan, Sundar C, Karthik Subbaraj, Vasanthabalan and Milind Rau.

Brilliant interview! Siddharth managed to bring out impending issues in the Indian film industry. "we are a country that celebrates mediocrity". I'm only now starting to see brilliant script and direction in the Tamil industry. Enakkul Orruvan was a well-directed movie, sure it showed he scrimped on some bucks, but the story was worthy of an international acclaim.

Siddharth is very underutilised actor.... Especially telugu cinema totally failed to use his talents offering him totally senseless films... Half of the wrong is with him too to get stuck in that trap for too long.... Hope he comes back with a great movie.....And I so much want to speak like him... So much ease and clarity of mind in his answers... Good luck Sid...

He could've rejected all the bad scripts. Actors like Vijay Devarakonda and Nani are also part of Telugu cinema who have done varied roles and quality cinema. Even Nikhil used to do stupid films, but he decided to do quality cinema and from then on he's consistently doing much better films. I blame actor more than the industry for doing bad movies.
@srikarsaiyoutube
@srikarsaiyoutube 6 жыл бұрын
Praneeth How can he do good films unless there's someone to offer? Telugu cinema really failed in utilizing this man. And, he did not do any bad films in his career. The ones that didn't work should not be termed as BAD :)
@praneethmanne
@praneethmanne 6 жыл бұрын
Srikar Siddharth See, I'm not saying it's completely actor's mistake. All I'm saying is if an actor wants to do good cinema he will eventually do good cinema irrespective of the industry that he's in. That's why I gave an example of Vijay and Nani. He has done some really bad films in Telugu. Aata, Bava, Jabardhasth and Oh My Friend are all really bad films if you ask me.
@srikarsaiyoutube
@srikarsaiyoutube 6 жыл бұрын
Praneeth See that's where the point lies. What he said in the interview was he wasn't offered many films. He can't make a good film! It must be offered and he will definitely choose it. But, now as he started producing films, he may do it in future!
