Here's the deal. You are obviously young and you have your whole life ahead of you, so there is a reason to do it and a reason not to do it. The reason not to do it is family might be weirded out. But you don't have to worry about that because you fell in love and then you found out you were cousins. As far as why you should do it? Because you are in love. Whether it's high school love that lasts till the end of high school? Or whether it's for real you guys should find that out. Seriously. The whole reason why people shouldn't date their family members literally does not apply to cousin. Biological reasons do not apply.

Well, now you know why you had so much in common. :D And, you sure do have much in common. :D Your mother should have told you about her sister. And, it does not matter that she does not talk to her sister. But, I understand not knowing all of your family, because, big families have too many people to be able to keep up with. And also, after a few generations, it gets to be more difficult, if the family is really that big. Especially if they all live in different cities. But, there should still be something told to you, even about the more distant relatives. Even if it was just the fact that you have such a big family, and thus, you have cousins you never met, and may never meet in the future. That should be the bear minimum of what's told to you. Even if nothing else about the family is told to you. Because, it's your family, too, and stuff like this happens. Don't let this keep you two from talking as cousins.

Cousin dating isn't as bad as you think, in many of the us cousin marriage is legal. In the us there is a Stigma against it. But in the UK it's actually quite common. One of the Queen's of England actually married them. And to all the people cringing to other people having a relationship with their cousin. It's not you in their situation so why be a troll about it?
