It has been exactly three years since Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal were plunged into chaos during the 2021 July unrest, which resulted in over 350 casualties due to the violent riots in both provinces. Eyewitness News has obtained harrowing accounts from the Magadule family in Soweto, who are still grappling with the repercussions of the July unrest. Amanda and Zodwa Magadule vividly detailed the devastating loss of their mother, who died during a looting spree at Ndofaya mall.

This is so sad. Clearly these people need psychosocial support. It won't bring back their Mom, but it might help them process the grief and the trauma and help them live better lives. Providing access to psychosocial support must be normalized. May they heal and find peace in their lives.
