As a student, I had felt a lot of pressure when I think about my family and they want me to studies, and I end up forcing myself and get into diplomas , take a course that I dun like. They never force me to do it though. After that, I get dipressions and anxiety, I can't study at all. My parents blame themselves cause they think this happened because of them. This was not their fault, I feel bad. But, im okay right nw, my family give me a lot of support even when I do the little things. I changes my life with their motivation words and I countinued studies with smile, laugh and happy. #Sorry for my english^^

Exactly...this happens to me too..I have huge dreams but my parents don't even know my talents (singing,rapping,dancing,drawing,studying good,gymnastics/contortion..I love it) And that's what makes me self-conscious about myself ...I'm not confident ..my parents don't support my dreams..I wanna be a dancer and singer..

Me too,my parents always forced me to study economy.But i actually quite good at drawing,design,and create something so that i want to study graphic design,and of course the won't let me.they think that only government employees can succeed and that is a cool job. Lavender Boy I need to share this with you guys. I have 2 older siblings in which the oldest, my brother, already graduated, passed the exams and is nlw working in Japan. Mg sister and I have been bright students but me, myself can't get to win prizes. I only won major things last year. I have collected about 5 major awards for winning first and was able to go to places, and many minor awards. Today, the teacher who coached me asked if I could bring my awards to school for our foundation day. While looking for it at homw, you know what my dad said? *"Why are you looking for your awards? For the foundation day? It should be your sister's. She has more awards."* The mext day, when I was getting my most wamted and important award, my glass trophy, mom said, *"Be careful with that. Once you break it you won't be able to win another. You can break that once you won many trophies. Why can't you be like your sis? Many trophies."*

I think the problem with most Asian parents is, they think the children "owe" them. While it is to be thankful to, you should be more responsible to support and love you're children instead of pressure them to the point of depressed. I get good grades in my family but they never complemented me! I even graduated top 1 in my whole grade since i was in grade 1 and now i’m in grade 8 and never been complemented! My parents like my older brother more eventhough he don’t like studying!! He just likes playing basketball! So i tried playing sports for 2 years and i got 70+ medals and 10 trophies! My brother doesn’t even have a half of all my achievements but my parents always like him!! 😡😡

I am not very upbeat and suffer from severe resting bitch face which automatically makes people assume that I am angry and so when I am upset, people know automatically. People need to realise that people that are really happy and upbeat all the time are humans too and they can get hurt. We have to be more aware of each other and be more in tune with one another because the exterior hides a lot of deep hurt and pain.

I also feel like it applies to me because I have family issues and I've often thought, why did my parents bother to have a kid? It's true the smallest things can affect people. I got higher grades than my brothers but my parents still favor over them. I even became a director of a company when I was working and still not a single word of compliment from them. Parents like mine won't change no matter how hard i've tried. Then I decided to no longer care and get married and live happily with my husband. Parents like mine should never be a parents. They gave me such a deep scar while watching my brothers get praised or comforted while all they ever did was left me behind.

Its not that its that we are all raised to believe that studying will get you somewhere in life. His mum is just concerned. She appreciates him otherwise she wouldn’t give him pocket money or she woulda kicked him out. She very obviously supports him but she still worries because what he wants is so specific. And that's how most parents feel when their child wants to go into the arts. Especially when they don't have something tangible that may prove that they have a chance of success like awards. Hell, even kids who are in university that study the arts, their parents still worry. At least he has a mother who isn't pressuring him and is allowing him this kind of freedom. My parents gave me three options: STEM, Medicine or Law. They killed anything that wasn't that and my dream was to become an author and comic book artist.

Mira Loran well watching this the mother gave conflicting vibes to me, she said she isn't pressuring him but she wants him to Excell, then she said since her son is in 11th grade he could at least be taller, overall in that 27 minute clip she keeps shooting down her son's hopes and dreams without any shame on TV and still smiling. Did we watch the same concern?! 🤔 She clearly loves and supports him. Unlike some parents, she knows her sons strengths and weaknesses and tries to help him improve both. She clearly said that she knows that her son has immense potential and a bright future but it’s very logical for a parent to worry for their child’s future, especially when the child has chosen a field that the parent is not familiar with. His mum just wants him to have a safe plan B which studying and education provides. Life’s tricky and you never what may come your way so it’s always good for have options. Like she said, she raised her son preciously and with a lot of support, that is why he’s able to be as confident as he is. Also, it seems like she does support his interests and passions like taking him to a theme park for a whole week straight, getting him a yearly pass and giving him her credit card for the model that he built in his room. If she was hard on him, he would be far more sadder and resentful towards his mother but instead, he is bright, joyful, upbeat, charismatic and very much loves his family. She lets him express himself e.g. the dancing in the living room lol. She sounds like an awesome Mum tbh...she’s just concerned for his future which is very normal for parents to be concerned of their children’s future.
