Man... I'm about to break up with my boyfriend, the sad part is that I really like this guy... I never felt anything like this for anyone else but he won't admit to his mistakes. He has given me reasons not to trust him, but I always make excuses for his behavior and that is just making it everything worse for me. And is just like you said I don't feel good with the person that I am becoming, is not right and its not me. Thank you so much, is a hard thing to do but I'm going to do it anyway.

My favorite moment in the Sex and the City show was, when Samatha didn't trust her boyfriend Richard, after he cheated on him once. She got crazy and wasn't herself, and when she had enough she only said "I love you. But I love myself more." I think this is a very important message for everyone, who has long issues in ther relathionships - that we deserve the best.

with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat, I thank you Matthew, from the bottom of my heart. these are the words I need to create my own statement. After 7 years of lies and relapse, I can't take it anymore! "I know I can't trust the way I want to in this realtionship. let's not torture each other anymore. I don't want to torture you because you feel like you're married to a detective and I don't want to continue being tortured because you give me reasons not to trust you." I think I'm going to need a counselor or other paid mediator involved because we still need to work together for the sake of our child, but I cannot let our child be damaged by his father's addiction

I wish women would stop silencing their intuition. It's ugly. Women need to pick up a history book about the traditional etiquette of women and how they acquiesce in a relationship. You will never get what you want by tolerating insolent behavior. Still amazed at the contrast of this caller, hanging on to a lying douche (why?) while the previous caller was too quick to ditch a decent guy in search of one with 'spark'. Be self-reflective. Decide what is important. No one wants a lying douche bag, so why tolerate it? He did not start being a douche recently. He's been a liar for a while. He's pushed the limits because he knows you tolerate it. He has to do the work to build the trust back by not doing the behavior that he agreed to not do. Why do people argue over the bs they've already stated annoys them? Do you really need someone to advise you on your level of self-respect, your worth? Tell people what you require, show them, then tell them what you told them and show them...then exit if you do not get the response you desire. Stop holding on to an asshole waiting for him to change.

Never trust a guy who texts other women! End game right there. He's not willing to commit run away from this guy. I guarantee there's a lot of women he's talking to casually to fluff his ego and have as a back up. I have been there my ex was a narcissist! He'd text other women I wasn't proud to follow my instincts to follow him in text. It changed me I was never the type to distrust. Until him. Never be second to anyone, I gave him this same speech he gave in this video. I gave him his space only to have him betray that trust, always trust your gut ladies and gents

The thing we forget when in relationships is that the other person is meant to improve your life. You have to learn to compromise so that it's mutually beneficial but the most important thing to think about when deciding whether or not to be in a relationship is if your life is improved by this person being in it. That's not just for dating but friends, jobs, family members and you don't have to permanently remove them for you life just temporarily while they are having a negative effect on you. It's not your responsibility to harm yourself while making others happy.

+Arc Kocsog Ok granted I sort of missed why she didn't trust him, but in my opinion it's not just his responsibility. Both people are in a relationship, both have responsibility. Even about trust issues. Before I got with my boyfriend, I slept with a friend of his, but I didn't know they were friends at the time. When he expressed his worries about it happening again I did my part and assured him that I wouldn't if I were in a relationship and that if given the chance I would prove it to him. That was my part, my responsibility, but after that it was all up to him. So I believe it's a two way street...

This happened to me too, last year. Don't let fear keep you from searching for what you want in life. Get out there and meet men in spite of the fear. Trust yourself first, then more trustworthy men will show up. If you meet a man that is even the slightest bit untrustworthy, wish him well and move on. Listen to your heart. Keep your boundaries firm. Don't jump into a relationship with the first man that comes along. Take your time, allow yourself to heal, and better men will show up. Always put yourself first!

Matthew is saying that to be able to be your best self in a relationship you have to be with a partner who doesn't do things that make you feel that you are not able to be the best you you can be. Instead you begin to become someone who you don't want to be as a result of responding to what they are doing. In this case this woman was not being her truest most loving self in her relationship because she was with a guy who was showing reasons why he could not be 100% trustworthy. I'm not sure if that helps. Maybe it's as clear as mud. Matthew says it so much better.

I was hurt when i read conversation of my husband always sex chatting with an other lady , i felt so broken, I’m here in California , USA and was able to access his phone while he was away cheating in UK and saw all the proofs i needed for a divorce and even terrible things they had planned. He also does hacking of account or any other type of hacking and retrieval of data. Matthew, you give people so much , because your advice is universal, for many women who struggle with jealousy and uncertainty. We all loose ourselved from time to time, and what is worse, we explain our behaviour , and we blame our partners for being sneeky and checking the phone etc. But the truth lies in our complexes and lack of trust, which sometimes has nothing to do with the current partner.... Please keep doing what your doing.

I was in this exact situation recently.. The whole phase of finding out what we feel and what we need and want to change, took about 6 months. In the last weeks of it we talked, took a few days apart, came back and talked again. We took our time to articulate best possible how we really feel right at that time and what we need to see change. In the end the only hopeful sign was that he could see his behaviour through my eyes and didn't like some of it at all. After that I nagociated my terms clearly with him and we're testing it again. It might be anything but easy. We need to give each other space to try new patterns of behaviour and chances for making mistakes. At the same time observing carefully inside and outside, if there's is any real improvement.. Through this process I came across Matthew's channel and it helped me immensely. Thank you so much for that!!

How come I just discovered your video, Matthew!? I just finished a relationship that contains distrust. The breakup took me a great effort to move on because I just couldn't figure out what really went wrong. Our situation was similar to the lady in the video. I was thrilled when you mentioned "evidence". I just realized the "evidence" no needs to be a direct evidence that caught him having someting with other females, but the evidence that he can't show the respect to the relationship by keeping a boundary with other females. He kept saying "If you love me, you got to trust me 100%." or "I am doing nothing wrong. We are just friends. Why you just can't trust me?" I was like...yeah, he is probably right, and I am wrong since I don't find any evidence anyway. I blamed on myself being so skeptical and eventually hated myself looking like crazy, needy and clingy. I am glad that it's all over now. I used to hate him after the breakup, but now I choose to forgive him and let go. It's a lesson in life, I can't be more clear than ever about knowing what kind of man I should look for in the future. Thanks for making this video.

I just love this video and it is so relevant right now. Thank you Matthew! Your deconstructed it so well and your suggestions for a conversation are brilliant. Why people waste each other's time when they want different things in life?

I just blocked a guy on Sunday because he was always talking about getting married, but he failed several times to keep his word to visit me, and he's asked me for money and about my finances. I went to the hospital for spinal injections, he called and I told him about it, and the next day he didn't remember I'd been to the hospital. Just too many inconsistencies destroyed any of the initial trust I had in him.

Wow, Matt. You are absolutely amazing. I've been up all night watching more than a few or your videos and this one really hit home for me. I am currently going through something similar in my relationship and now I finally know how to approach it, which I didn't know 8:51 minutes ago. Thank you so much! I'm looking forward to more videos! 😊

Besides your very good/great advice. Very logical and dare I say it, probably the key or code to a perfect relationship (given the right person and circumstances) you are so caring and very sweet to all your callers. It is really lovely (I feel the vibe of an awesome Mum or sister in your younger years).

I didn’t trust mine because of his lies and then he secretly hid from me he was talking to an old ex girlfriend. He lied to me about what this was all about. Honesty is a core value for me. I left him.

If you can't trust that person there is no reason for you to hold on to your relationship because it will only create conflict for both of you. You should weigh properly if your trust issues are enough risking your love for someone.

Complete sense. There are loads of things I need in a relationship, loads of likes and boundaries. The number one thing for me is that I trust the person, then I hope he is funny, intelligent, caring, polite, respectful of our relationship and fun. But trust is number one. And being the detective is really deflating and really sad.

Matthew, I ❤️ you Why I didn’t find this video earlier , I lost 2 years of my life spending time with someone who’s cheating on me , often, and yes at the beginning I was also a detective, later - I didn’t wanted to know what is he doing, ...but deeply in the heart you already know what’s happen, so this is not healthy... in the end I am coming to the same thoughts , but after so much pain 😔 Thank you Matthew
@alicegoldenvalley
@alicegoldenvalley 6 жыл бұрын
The problem is that the guy I was with when I said : it's okay we can go our separate ways, tell me now. He said: give me another chance I can be that guy, and then lied again and again. No more for me. I don't want him anymore. But I think that I'm not at the same stage as the girl calling. But it's nice to hear a similar situation still. I did everything I could. But I'm not going to allow so much misery in my life just to be with someone who is not trustworthy.
