Steps for donating to The Rapunzel Foundation:
- Wash hair.
- Trim split ends.
- Dry hair/
- Put hair into a ponytail and secure with a hairband.
- Measure the ponytail.
- Plait the ponytail and secure with a hairband.
- Cut above the hairband.
- Wrap the hair in tissue and place in a zip plastic bag.
- Place in a padded envelope and post, making sure to include a return address.

When my mother in law had cancer, my wife had her elbow length red hair cut off to make a wig for her. A few years later, my wife developed cancer herself and her mom mailed the wig back to her! We've made manya joke about her hair making the rounds through the family- who knows where it will show up next?

I hope they have both fully recovered from their cancers. While I'm sure cancer is a shared experience they both could have done without, how wonderful that they both were able to support each other through a difficult time!

@@Clisare Both are through it, though my wife had to do chemo and radiation both because it came back. But now the wig is on a bust waiting for the next friend or family member who needs it.

I think you look absolutely ADORABLE!!! It really suits you, especially the way you had it styled with the floral jumper at the end of the video! And the roses in the curled hair for the dress up event- gorgeous. Alex is an ass, and, in this particular instance, wrong. You look incredible! And I know how much easier it must be to wash, style, and maintain. Also, it was really cool of you to donate your hair to a charitable foundation. So many people are in need, and wigs and hair pieces are expensive (at least for good quality ones, especially real human hair!)! Yeah, as a woman with fine, thin hair that refuses to grow beyond shoulder length, it always stings to hear all the negative comments on my hair. Like, I didn't choose this, for God's sake.

I donated my hair to the cancer foundation back in the mid 90's so it could be made into wigs for those suffering through chemo. My hair was half way down my back at the time and a deep auburn colour. I was one of the lucky ones in the big hair era of the 80's and 90's because it was so thick and big without hairspray! I did not tell anyone I was going to do it and the next day when I showed up for work, my boss did not recognize me, and the young lady I had just started dating left me for shaving my head....yes, I went from a crap load of hair to shaved! Lucky me I actually look good with a shaved head. lol Very kind of you to donate your hair the way you did.

I had bariatric surgery and also Native, before I had the surgery, I asked the band elders if I could cut my hair, normally we don't unless it's to mourn someone, I told them that I was mourning my old self and welcoming my new self. I donated my hair as well. It was just shy of 24 inches. Best decision I ever made!! I'm so happy that you donated yours!

You have a face and a HEAD (that’s VERY important) that lends itself wonderfully to both short, and long, hair. You looked sensational both ways, (though personally I slightly prefer it short, because it accentuates your beautiful eyes and lips). Seriously you could get a pixie cut and look FABULOUS. And think about the women who are considered the most fashionable in the world (hint French and Italian), MANY of them wear short stylish cuts. Most important of all you went ahead and did something that really took you out of your comfort zone to benefit others. To use a bit of Yiddish, that shows you are a true MENSCH!!! I really thought you was having fun with us as a joke. It does look good 👍🏻 & that is a really an amazing thing you're doing. A few places here in the states also do complimentary cuts for similar reasons but they send it from the actual salon if someone's donated it.

I have had short hair my entire life, so I don't think I can relate to the trauma of cutting it, but as you said: it's for a good cause. Utmost respect for your decision, really. And you actually look super nice with short hair, you should consider keeping it this way! How you styled your hair for the wedding was amazing!!! 👍

Thank you for this donation!! I have donated my hair three times. My mother in law recently passed of cancer. She was my hair stylist (and cut my hair for all those donations) and was a stylist for 20+years. It was really hard for her losing her hair in treatment. I shaved my hair with her as well when the time came. You are amazing for this and so is each and every other person who does this sort of donation.

Love the new style! It’s very flattering - it shows off your lovely cheekbones and jawline. And you’re absolutely right, it looks so much thicker now. I’m someone who tends to wait long between haircuts (I hate going to the salon), so I always feel my hair is too short when I’ve had several inches cut off. Something else to consider: Your hair will be/feel/seem so HEALTHY now. I always see it as a chance for a fresh start…no split ends, no abuse from hair ties, rough combing, etc. Enjoy the new look, play with it, have fun…and in a very short time it won’t be “too short” anymore. Love your videos!

👍Well done. I have donated to Locks Of Love three times. Which is dedicated to helping return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children free of charge. I'm in the US if anyone wants to donate theirs also. Again great job!!! I only had to cut 10 inches.
