When you send a girl home because her clothes are distracting you are basically saying that a guys education is more important than a girls

so I can admit I don't mind my schools dress code but the shoulder thing annoys me, I have seen multiple guys with half naked girls on their shirts infront of teachers and it's fine but God forbid a girl shows an inch of her shoulder

My school has a rule that you can't wear socks above the knee, which I find very amusing because it actually covers more skin than ankle socks.

Here's a really simple guideline that every school can follow without much incident For Girls: don't expose anything you wouldn't expose in a two-piece bikini. For Boys: don't expose anything you wouldn't expose in a typical bathing suit. Now, this is not perfect, I get it, but I honestly think that teenagers can tell when they are too hot or too cold. Besides, this way we can punish bad behaviour, and not the outfits students happen to be wearing.

The whole idea of a dress code, other than, don't show up in your underwear, is ridiculous. Its sexualizing young girls; it doesn't matter if its a male or female teachers, its adult looking at underage girls and telling them that they are inciting sexual thoughts of both the male students and teachers. Its the same awful mentality as, "put more clothes on, your grandfather/uncle/(male) cousins are here." Its disgusting.

Honestly what's the issue high schools are trying to fix? My high school actually had a seminar for the female students basically telling the larger girls that the dress code is for them, that they can't wear what the smaller girls could. It was humiliating and totally unfair, the Boys just watched a movie. As far as I'm concerned as long as everyone is atleast covering up what Wonder Woman covers up then we're good.

i lived in America for 2 years and my dress code was girls no tanks no spaghetti strap nothing blow 4 fingers from neck no tight leggings or jeans no sweat pants no logos or names on anything no ripped jeans no died hair no dark nail polish no heavy makeup (light foundation small amount of eye shadow and light gloss) no hair accessories no heels platformed shoes flip-flops or opened toe shoes only one ear piercing shorts an skirts come to knee no jewellery only baseball caps no cropped anything no high-waisted no tube tops boys no shorts above knee no ripped jeans no flip flops nothing with logos on no piercings no long hair (yes i copped off my old note book to make a point) one day i came in and my math teacher said my shirt was bad and my leggings where unacceptable and my shoes didn’t fit the code and my makeup was to heavy so i went to the principals office and i made a point. i was wearing a band shirt vans and plain black leggings and there was nothing wrong with my outfit. he just dismissed me so i had to wear a jumper and my gym trainers. a few weeks later my best friend got called in because she had a pixie cut (she recently got her hair cut because she came out to her parents) she was crying all day as they made her put on a baseball hat so i spoke to my music teacher and he managed to get into a team of teachers to change the dress code. after a few months we got our way. the new dress code is girls no spaghetti strap or tube tops not to much cleavage showing ( top of bra max) nothing inappropriate no heels or platformed shoes more than 4 fingers no face jewellery skirts within reason makeup within reason shorts within reason nothing too tight no flip flops nothing too revealing everything else within reason boys Shorts within reason nothing inappropriate no face piercings Everything else within reason i finally got my was and could express myself also thank you if you have read this all it really means a lot 😁 REMEMBER! I feel like the dress code only applies to females, and yes it kinda does: there are VERY few articles of clothing that the average male wears that would cause them to get dress coded.

At my school during spirit week there was one day that was "gender swap", so you could dress as a gender other than your own. Most of the boys at my school either came to school wearing crop tops or booty shorts, and one boy was literally just wearing a bra. None of the teachers cared at all, and some of them thought their outfits were funny. But when us girls wear shorts where you can see part of our thighs, nope, that's not appropriate. I remember when I was in school these two awesome lads in the upper years completely crushed the dress code and the headteacher. It was hot in the middle of summer, and the previous day one boy in their class wore shorts to school. Like as in uniform regulated trouser shorts (uk) and got sent home as in the dress code it said only trousers or skirts. These two lads stood up for him by coming to school the next day wearing the schools regulated uniform skirts. Because in the uniform code it didn't say for girls only. They got sent home anyway but for half the day they walked around in skirts to show how unfair it was for the lads to have to swelter in long trousers while girls could wear skirts. It was pretty epic. ^^ but our school also had the rule that you couldn't wear any colour bra but white. Because some girls wore neon colours that you could slightly see through the white shirts. But how where they meant to enforce that? They would have to stare at a students chest in order to actually see the colour of their bra so it was kind of weird. But I'm glad those guys did what they did because a couple years below me there was a transgender girl (born as a male) who wore a skirt. And I'm sure that if they hadn't challenged the dress code when they did that girl would be forced to wear the male uniform, which is completely wrong. ^^

I am actually so blessed to be at a school where they don't care about the dress code. Like my elementary school got mad at girls who wore spaghetti straps, but my school now could care less lmao
