Armlock putters are extremely expensive right now. I did this and it has worked amazing! I had a 36" Odyssey O-works Tank 7 putter lying around. I took it to Golf Galaxy and had them put on a 5" extension, the Jumbo Max putter Bryson uses in the red, white and blue, and then changed the loft and lie to match the new arm locks coming out. Luckily this worked out and the shaft did not break when adjusting the loft and lie. If I were to do this again, I would have them change the loft and the lie before anything else so that if the shaft breaks you do not need to repay for the grip and extension. All and all since I had the putter lying around it only cost me about $45 bucks to do, works great, and a lot cheaper then $800.

I feel like for pros and higher caliber players, they can have very love-hate relationships with their putters. Probably explains why they usually have over a dozen that they practice and switch out with. Since so much of putting is feel, confidence, and personal preference, maybe Finchie started to lose some of that with the LAB and wanted to try out the Sik model in comparison

@@sprtsfanatic1 it's like a player who learnt how to play with blades. If you switch them to game improvement irons for 6 months and then switch them back to blades they would have lost a ton of skill required to get good connection with the blades.

I am considering trying an ARMLOCK but thinking I like Evnroll's option and design. Anything that helps eliminate three putts is intriguing in helping lower my scores

This leapfrogging drill is my new favourite. However, I have modified it in that I aim for a forward ball (and not a tee (which is inefficient to be honest) - thus having a smaller target, as well as the fact that if the forward ball is hit it will nevertheless advance forward (and sometimes at an angle - thus changing the putting line a bit for variety). In practical terms this is one of the best drills ever. However, you can take it a step further.... You could set up 4 balls in a square pattern and hit them in a clockwise/anti-c pattern

I just bought an Odyssey 2-ball armlock that was a little more than half the price of the Sik armlock and I love it. I use to do conventional but saw the armlock putter at a store near me and I had to try it especially since I’m a lefty and they never have left handed armlock putters. It’s definitely easier to putt with it inside 20 feet but I’m still trying to get use to the longer putts.

I just got a hold of my first armlock putter, the Odyssey 2-Ball Ten Armlock. I absolutely love it. I feel like I have so much more control of every aspect of my putting stroke now, compared to my Odyssey Sabertooth I had before, or just about any other putter I tested while looking. I haven't gotten it out enough to see exactly what difference it'll make, but I would bet it'll save 2-3 per round once I get it dialed in.

I'd definitely give it go, just don't have a spare £800 for the Bryson spec! The benefit at high handicap level might be even more than at pro level.

do you think that the reduced pressure on the green will help you in other aspects of the game during tournament play? Also how are you coping with the mental pressure of a tournament? i find that while im alone or just practicing i can hit a lot more consistent but as soon as im out on the course with my playing partner i start making alot of silly mistakes and dont feel comfortable being the ball

An interesting video and ensuing concept for sure Mr. Finch. Personally, I agree with you on the anchoring ban. Now, I have yet to do the research myself to see if there ever really was a strong correlation between anchored putting and improved performance, so this is mostly based on my own impressions. Certainly on the PGA Tour though, the most prominent users of long, anchored putters prior to the ban weren't exactly known for the putting prowess. There have obviously been some pretty good players who used the anchoring style, but, even in the case of those who putted well while anchoring, it was not the core aspect of their game which made them such a good player in the first place. Bernhard Langer and Webb Simpson are fine examples. However, it would seem they were the exception and not the rule. Again though, this is just my take on the matter.

It'll be tricky to regulate it. They'll have to define the hand, wrist and forearm and come up with something that applies to everyone. Because they'll need to limit how far up the grip can go. Or do something like say the club can only be held with your hands and may not extend past the wrist? That should cover it, right? Xander just switched back, I assume that part was made before you knew? You def made this after the Bryson "my driver sucks" comment 🤣🤣 Pete, it's almost like you're being yourself even more lately. And the editing is a great blend of serious and fun.

Armlock is anchoring without any doubt. It gives you three points of contact. Three points of contact makes for more stability. That is why the construction trades call for always having three points of contact for proper ladder safety. When you put with the hands only you have two points of contact.

About time...I'm actually in the process of trying a wristlock grip which I put in my old cigar putter. Have yet to make the change to my current one.

You should try the Evnroll Midlock next to compare the two. The midlock seems to be more comfortable because of the grip shape.

Necro post here, but I just picked up an arm lock. It helped me realize that I get SUPER wristy on long putts with a regular putter. I only really realized it when my long putts were coming up really short with the armlock, at first. I figured my distances out though. I'm an arm locker now

If price is a concern I'd go with the cobra. Same DLT face a good head design, and under 400 dollars. Odyssey also has their two ball 10 available as an arm lock which hits really nice. Or grab a used sik or bettinardi. Lot of people have experimented with the arm lock and moved on, I got my betti studio stock for 200 bucks.

Since the arm is moving, arm lock putters don't seem like anchoring to me. You don't anchor a boat to a floating log.

Does that putter model have increased loft, because of the arm-lock design? I'm sure that the Bettinardi used by Matt Kuchar is designed with additional loft. Should've waited. I see that there is additional loft above the normal 3-4º. I think Kuchar's Bettinardi has 7º as well.

Thanks Pete! Good luck in your comps. I won’t be buying an armlock, tho I like the idea. Too expensive. Maybe I’ll just grip my current putter half way down the shaft. Great way to improve my flexibility!

I experiment with club quite a bit. I may make an arm lock putter by shafting a head with an extra stiff iron shaft and then buying and installing the grip and getting the head bent so the loft and lie are correct. By the way, when I worked at PGA Tour Superstore Julie Inkster came in with a new arm lock putter to get it adjusted for looft and lie. I had her stand at address, measured the starting loft and lie and make an educated guess. I changed the loft and lie as a starting point. Usually it takes several bends and checks to get it just right. My first bend was perfect! It was dumb luck, but she was impressed. :-)

I currently putt with an Odyssey O-Works 1W with a claw grip and I’m a decent putter of the ball. But I am desperate to try an armlock putter. I don’t think they should be banned, as you said Pete “the game is hard enough”. So I will certainly be looking at getting one just have to wait 20 years for companies realise us lefties like to play golf as well!!!

I use a standard SIK Pro with a steel shaft that was the same price as a standard Scotty, around $400. I think the LAGP shaft is about half of that $1000 quoted in the video. Steel shaft SIK putters don't cost nearly a thousand dollars. The SIK came built in the specs I gave them and the face had a much better than roll than anything else.

And he is no. 11 strokes gained putting on PGA tour. No one in the top 10 strokes gained putting is using armlock so it seems to be a non issue.

@@chrisdownes2146 Same as the LPGA, none of the best putters use this armlock style. Some go left hand low (which I do) like Speith, Ko, etc. Ultimately its whatever you find works and then stick with it. Gonna have bad putting days, but thats just what they are, bad days. No need to revamp the whole style. You know Finchy tho, loves to tinker, claw, 50 different putters.LAB, Scotty, Sik etc

I had a Nike mallet belly putter a few years back.. loved that putter. my buddies hated it so when the anchor rule went into effect, they wouldn't let me use it.. i got new buddies now

No, i think the reason why belly, chest and chin anchored puttering was banned is because it allows a pure pendulum stroke utilising the full length of the putter. With armlock, the arm becomes part of the pendulum which introduces more of the human element in the stroke. Having said that, I use armlock as i feel that it is more consistent.

Bought an arm lock putter 1 month ago. Had it custom built (length and grip) with #7 style head. All for under US $100 (one hundred). Practicing with it indoors now during Winter. Come Spring we'll see if this new arrow can help the Indian play better or if the Indian's lack of skill minimizes the arrow's benefits.

It doesn't anchor to a point, (a pivot point that can't move.) It lies along the forearm, therefor any movement the forearm makes is translated down the shaft to the head. I'm gonna switch to side putting with a 50" putter called the GP Pro putter from RP Dionne. It's legal also and you should review his clubs. They're tricking awesome. " No they really are."

I've recently bought an armlock putter, a 41" Odessey 2-ball white hot to be precise. However, I don't use it in the armlock style. As I'm 6'3 with quite a major back problem, I actually use this with a standard putting stroke but much more upright. Before this putter, putting was definitely the weakest part of my game as I had a touch like a rampaging bull elephant. Now, putting is one of the strongest parts of my game with the biggest improvement being distance control. As far as them being banned, I'm with you in the sense that golf is hard enough so no, I don't think they should be

They arent really more expensive than non armlock versions. You can order arm lock versions of any putter just like broomstick back in the day
