One of the most impressive parts of this is how Couriway imitated Danny's playstyle. When I saw the speedrun I thought that "Danny's" mistakes were cute because he still plays like he doesn't know the game that deeply. I thought he just became good at following speedrunning techniques (impressive either way)

This video was actually a great display of the Dunning Kruger Effect. At the start you knew that you had no idea how to play and there is no chance you could do it. After only a couple of hours of practicing you already felt so confident that you could do it all on your own. However, after practicing more and more and getting more and more insight in what you needed to do you again felt like you could never do it because you lost confidence the more you knew lmao

In the end, I think learning a little bit of how to speedrun the game was the best choice anyway- there're so many things that speedrunners do that a casual player would just not know about. With a little bit of that baseline knowledge, you were able to understand *enough* of what Couriway was doing to be able to comment on it during the stream.

Almost every single person who has learned to speedrun within the last 2 or 3 years has learned from Couriway's videos. He is probably the favorite of most Minecraft speedrunners and definitely one of the most respected in the community. But I wouldn't put it past him to help someone cheat a speedrun if it wasn't an official run.
