Ciao guys! Welcome to Queenship, the perfect place for you if you love kpop girl group. My name is Berry, an italian journalist living in Lisbon. I'm not a Kpop guru, I'm just a guy who enjoy this kind of music.
Today I decided to continue my journey with IU, one of the most talented South Korean singers in recent years. For the occasion I chose to watch for the first time Celebrity, a song of hers that so many of you suggested to me.
IU Celebrity did not disappoint expectations at all as this song is also very good, like all the others I have listened to before. Celebrity however is slightly different in that although the verses are in the classic style that IU has accustomed us to over the course of these years but the pre chorus and refrain change completely offering the listener a style much more similar to other idols.
The result is an excellent song that brings two different souls together. IU Celebrity, in my personal interpretation, is a love letter to oneself reminding us that our love for ourselves is the basis of any relationship. We must be our own celebrity to be worshipped and followed.

If you want to hear IU at her best, well that's a hard one. The deepest ones to me are dear name, love poem, my sea, Eight, knees, through the night, above time and meaning of you. IU is so amazing that picking a song depends on how you fell at the time. Now if you want to have fun, hey!, love attack, marshmallow and Boo though this last group are not her compositions. even the UAENA song will make you feel better (this one is hers totally). So IU from the past present and future is never a wrong choice. Shopper is one to be experienced live and so are Blueming, hold my hand. Favorites of mine not composed by her are rain drop and Autumn morning. Finally IU herself picked Through the night, good day and knees as the three songs she would pick for a concert. IU has composed over 70 and total discography is over 180, so you can literally hear her for over 12 consecutive hours without any cuts.

@@queenshipkpop IU has a wide and diverse discography. First react to the killing voice performance of IU. Then select your favourite genre first. If you want to start it from the beginning I would suggest you to lost child, marshmallow, hey rock version Etc. she can sing in a wide range of vocals. Her live performances are insane.

Yes, IU writes most of her songs. I hear she's hard to translate because her wordplay is so subtle that its hard to convey the multiple meanings in English.

Unfortunately I tought it because Korean and English are two completely different ideas. With the English translation it is possible to understand the meaning of the song a little, but I think all the original poetry is lost.

Since you ask about the meaning behind celebrity. IU said she wrote it for a "friend" (most likely Sulli, a whole rabbit hole in itself as IU lost her, Go Hara and Jonghyun the three of them in less than 2 years) That friend was treated as eccentric because of views and choice of words, but IU continues, while writing it she realized the lyrics also apply to her and after further consideration the song goes to everyone who acts and lives by own ideas and not public perception.
