Rye is another beautiful town in East Sussex. We moved to ES from London...best thing we ever did.

Love Lewes. I live in Brighton and Lewes is a great counterbalance to busy old Brighton. Lewes has a lovely mix of people. Hardcore locals, academics, arty folk and plenty of eccentric characters. I love doing the occasional pub crawl there. Very welcoming.

Swanage - Durdle Dor - Weymouth - St Mawes - Gyllenvase - Cornwall - Devon, all places beautiful on a sunny day and nice to see people who come to UK find these places, instead of just having a London centric view.

There is a castle in my local town---actually these days it's not much more than a pile of rubble, but what sets it apart from most castles is that it has a zoo in the grounds.

I used to live in Brighton so went to Lewes a few times, it's lovely and well worth a visit to see their famous bonfire night celebrations too. I now live near Conwy on the edge of Snowdonia and Conwy Castle is a pretty special one, on an estuary with a backdrop of mountains it's truly breath-taking and you can also walk along the town walls which are still intact, it's quite big so a hell of a lot of stairs though! 🤣

The one thing I have never liked about certain beaches, including that of Brighton is the lack of sand and all the pebbles as it is in no way comfortable to either sit or lay on which is a real shame compared to places in Kent such as Cliftonville or Margate, or even places further along the coast such as Bournemouth etc which has beautiful sandy beaches too which are also far softer and more comfortable yo lay on!

Both Conwy Castle area and Snowdonia are stunning areas of beauty as indeed is the Historic Carmarthen Castle too which is also well worth a visit whilst you are in Wales!

BTW if you want to see beautiful sea views, you would need to go a long way to beat, The Mumbles at Midnight or in the daytime too, The Historic Pembrokeshire Coast, Saundersfoot and Tenby too which are all very beautiful for both scenery and the beautiful buildings of Tenby Village too, absolutely gorgeous there.

Lewes was included in the second BBC series of Six English towns by Sir Alec Clifton-Taylor, (Six More English Towns). The first series included Chichester, also in Sussex. You can find episodes of this series on KZfaq.

I grew up in Buxted, near Lewes. What this video has shown me is I miss home. I live in Germany now and I do miss East Sussex. As an archaeologist I have excavated at Lewes Castle several times over the years.

I love Lewes castle. I spent a few weeks in a few years working on an archaeological site close to there Beddingham) , used to take the train down after a set of night shifts and sleep on the train from Victoria. Of course you also have Arundel castle to the west (much recommended, but take a whole day at least to enjoy the town and castle) and of course Pevensey castle which is amazing and Hastings castle which are both east of Lewes

Hi Megan, here in Nottingham we have a wonderfully historic castle featuring some equally famous or infamous caves beneath it that can be explored with a guide. There are also many other Museums in the area too in the close vicinity to the Castle including both the incredibly fascinating and Haunted National Justice Museum called the Galleries of Justice which has featured on the TV Show 'Most Haunted' but they also tell of the history of transportation of prisoners and the prison itself telling you how the prisoners were treated but you start in the Court itself before being sent down to the prison. It is most definitely well worth a visit. There is also the Brewhouse Yard Museum with Victorian Schoolhouse. Then there are the Nottingham Caves too which is a fascinating look into the past and how the normal folks of Nottingham lived during that time. These are all within walking distance of each other in the City of Nottingham itself but then there are also many other interesting historical places to visit including Wollaton Hall Grounds and Museum, there is also the Papplewick Pumping Station where fresh water was pumped throughout the City which helped the people of Nottingham stop being susceptible to serious and deadly water borne diseases that paralysed the country at the time too and then there is the Bronze Age Round House located in Calverton! Further out of Nottingham itself, you have the Historic Granny Smiths Apple Tree in Southwell located near the incredibly significant Southwell Minster. Then finally you have the Historic Market Town of Newark on Trent with the beautiful architecture of the Old Town featuring the Market Place which still holds a market atleast twice a week and just down the road from this spot are the Historic Remains of the Newark Castle which still bears the scars along the Trentside walls from Bullet Strikes from the English Civil War.

I lived in Lewes for a while, Fisher street. Did you know there was an avalanche in Lewes in 1836, Chalk Street, killing 8 people. The town has some good artisan bakery's, I seem to remember.

Man alive, you had good weather. If ever you get to the North East, The County of County Durham... book a year in advance, it'll take us that long to tidy up. Durham Cathedral Castle... is amazing. 1000 years old and the messiest place we'd have to clean... 1000 years worth of accumulated dust... shocking. You can actually book rooms in the castle. Go to the top of the Cathedral for a couple of quid.. you DON'T pay to get in. It blew my mind when I came across one that had the money people at the door. 😮 I heard people have to pay to Pee down south, is that true? I think it must be as our tourist posters say Come to Durham, it's free to piss 😂 party time 🎉 Whitby for fish and chips... north sea cod, landed and cooked... my daughters and I did a 5 hour round trip just to get some. Don't get from the horrid places near the fun fair... minging. Get off the train and as you leave the station, look left to a massive white building. Thats where to go. See Dracula... cos that's where he's from... true! Whenever you see an ice cream van ask for monkeys blood on your ice cream. The van outside Whitby train station has different blood... you'll have to ask, I'm not telling (by the way, that's not a joke, ask for monkeys blood... lush!)

The sheep at the end is shouting, 'Baa. That Canadian can't even tell the difference between a ram and a ewe. 🐏We're all girls here.' 🐑🐑😁 Did you know that Archer is French, while Bowman is English? Cows kill five times more people than sharks every year btw.
