aali the quacc will eat your italian restaurant it can be a bit difficult to see depending on where you live, I had to use binoculars because I live in a big city. Also, it is only visible from the northern hemisphere. If you want to see it, it becomes visible about 90 minutes after sunset and it’s usually to the bottom right of the Big Dipper. Those are the only tips I know but I’m sure you could find many articles online about how to see it.

Yeah, I was also 18 at the time and clearly remember watching the great comet Hale Bobb. Although Neowise is cool, it pales in comparison. Hale Bobb was spectacularly bright in the twilight and was in the sky for months, I remember. We are very lucky to have witnessed that one.

Look on the bottom right from 2:11 through 2:18 and slow video speed to 25% (.25x) There's a light that shows up traveling from right to left. Then, when you shine your laser in the sky right over it's path on the video slowed down it appears to create a trail of 2 or three lights, almost like a sparkle and then it disappears completely. The trail of lights shows also when it first appears in the video at 2:11. Years ago, someone had just purchased the then new A7S and was recording the sky at high ISO, he ended up recording two lights twirling across the sky making a twisting motion. He could not see it with his eyes but, the camera picked it up.

There is no rule that comets cant be slower than ISS and there's no reason for him to be wrong because you are right. Comets heat up and it's speed increases as it gets close to the sun. Thank You so much. Now I am satisfied that I have seen the Neowise comet. Your video is fabulous. I Went out for 3 days here in Massachusetts and never saw it. Was so disappointed. Hopefully will have better luck with the upcoming meteor showers.

I'm surprised to hear you say "I can't believe I found it..." It seems to me all you had to really do, facing the right direction of course, is look up and there it were... no? Anyhow, what a beuatiful spot. Great light and great scope. Where is this...? Midwest? Outside of Saratoga, NY perhaps? Maybe you live off Hwy 50 in Nevada... Elk maybe. Or Winnemucca? Fantastic video, you ought to be proud. I wish I coulda have seen that well at that time... Thanks for sharing.

I was in Massachusetts. Only thing I can think of as I walked down the road and one night drove and parked in a field was it was reported to be 10 degrees above the horizon and there are many barns, tall cornfields and trees that maybe were obstructing my view. Also never a totally clear night either as I was only able to see the Big Dipper but not clearly.

Is it me or you can actually see the dust tail moving. It’s incredible how it seems to be still by when it’s probably going at 100k miles per hour. I took pictures the other night it was mind boggling to think about the universe and insignificant we are. 5000 years until it comes by again.

I was outside the city on a very clear night and I still struggled to see anything. Even had a pretty decent pair of binoculars and just nothing. It was very disheartening after spending two hours almost. I was using apps and websites to guide me to it and still just couldn't see it.

Taking all things into consideration, the comet is approaching magnitude 4, which is really really dim. This may explain it. It gets fainter with each passing day.

@@DonWW but they're saying for July 22/23 it will be at it's brightest. But when seeing everyone else be successful and they say with the naked eye. Again it's just sad that many incl me struggle. Even with my binoculars.

Outstanding... and you just did it with out a million dollars of equipment. I sometimes work my butt off in astrophotography and what you did is fantastic and was just too easy. In 1997 when Hale Bopp was here I did not have the equipment I have now but I could actually see from my front yard just after sunset with just my eye, what you are imaging now. Thanks for posting.
