Always start it in neutral, never rev it in park, change the fluid in the rear differential often. You can’t get parts for rear dif anymore. Nor can you get engine cases new any more. Your left to used on many parts. Also the steering blows stock but there are some aftermarket steering kits that are awesome upgrades! I’m a huge arctic cat fan so I said these things so you know the draw backs. However, they are awesome machines that are fun to beat on. Always wear you harnesses, have fun!

welcome to the money pit that is SxS's. I have a CFMoto 950 HO EX. Had an older RZR 1000 before it. While I use mine for rock crawling and technical trail riding, it seems like something breaks every time I go out. Just use it as an excuse to upgrade. And, yes, you should be getting a bit more power out of that. I'd pull the clutch cover and check the belt and clutches. They might be worn. Also, get it off the ground and disconnect the shocks. Then you can use a floor jack to check the suspension travel, make sure nothing is binding up and clearances are good. You landed front heavy a couple times and may have just bottomed it out and crushed the brake line. Also looked like the driver side axle boot crush sleeve was loose. Good luck with it! Stay safe and BRAAP!

Judging by the way the rest of the machine is cobbled together, it looks like most of the work was done by the machines owners and not a powersports mechanic. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't look like a bad SxS, but Arctic Cat has a reputation for being called "Arctic Crap" for a reason. Their 1000cc engines are also known to be the least underpowered of all the big name manufacturers. Fortunately on this unit, it looks like someone else has already spent the money on the upgrades and Joe was able to get it for a reasonable price. Getting back to my first comment, yes the clutches may have been replaced with better primary and secondary units, but whoever installed them may not have taken the time to make adjustments to get the best power out of them. They could very well be setup for a different style of riding altogether, which makes the machine feel like it has less power than it should. They may also need a good cleaning/greasing and the belt may need replacing as well, Arctic Cat doesn't have the best belt wear compared to a system like Yamahas Ultramatic CVT transmissions. Probably should take the time to do a really good once over before your next ride.

Looks like the guy put $500 into it a year plus maintenance and only drove it 100 miles a year.. you definitely made out better than he did with the machine then no doubt!! I just bought a 2013 Wildcat 1000 ltd metallic red last month!! It’s pretty much stock besides fox shocks and Im pretty excited for the riding season! Hay when trying to jump a side by side, let off right before you get to the jump, then punch it and it will make the front come up. And you probably should let off before you hit the ground. Because hitting the ground under power will slap axels
@jimmace6148
@jimmace6148 4 ай бұрын
Any jump that is shorter than the wheelbase will buck you like that unless you have the hp and traction to pull the front end up. Not gonna happen in a 85hp sxs.

Enjoy it, those have become my bell cow here, everybody's going to those vs atvs. Wildcats are pretty nice sxs. Front difference can have issues but fairly simple to fix. Plenty of power. I do some factory required service on them now and then, I get to kinda compare all the ones I've seen. We've got a Honda Pioneer 1000 5 up. More utility than play but plays a lot.great pick up bud! Go make some good memories. Enjoy Mt friend, rnjoy!!

Should be a spring or snap ring on the inside of the outter CV stub that holds it to the axle shaft or it could be pressed on and need smacked off with a punch on the inner race of the CV joint.

Yes, I was going to say, he kinda made more work for himself by pulling the axle the way he did. Fortunately the inner boot looks fine and just needs another clamp. You may find its easier to pull that inner CV out from the differential when its time to re-clamp that CV boot.

By doing that and any different kind of Terran could cause to blow the rear end out!!! I’ve seen it happen more than once before!!! Just a heads up!!!

Yes, some of these are a money pit. Regulations in some areas have been loosened up, to allow for riding on county roads. Only problem is, you still have to have insurance and tags. They are more expensive than atvs, require a bigger trailer, and sometimes a bigger truck. Some of the younger people are really getting into financial trouble over something they only use sometimes. Add in the divorce rate, and an older guy like me can find a great deal. Some of these younger parents are really spending their children's college money. Hwy patrol and sheriff's deputies in my area just hang out around the gas stations and get them when they pull in with no tags or anything.

Parts are a little more expensive for the wildcats. Textron doesn't build this wildcat anymore, So that's why I sold mine, I now have Tracker 1000xx aka Wildcat xx. My 2018 would shut off at 75mph. Thats fast enough, I put 28 inch tires on mine and it did great. I like the sticker on the back. I had MBRP exhaust on mine and man did it sound great. Take of it and you will love it. You will have to fix the steering on that machine, 715 wildcat steering is the best. I would like to show you pitchers of mine. Another thing don't go in deep water the intake for the carb sets really low behind the seat. Good luck with you machine. That wildcat will not do 90mph if you try that you will blow it up. And engines are hard to find.

Everyone is acting like it broke, but what happened was a bolt backed out likely because someone didnt tighten/loctite it correctly. No fault of the machine.. Thats what caused the axle boot and brake line issues. Also, the jump is too short for a side by side. That is why its jumping nose down. And landing hard on the throttle like that is going to break stuff. If you blow up the rear differential they are hard to find and you cant buy a new one anymore. I have owned a 2014 model wildcat for 2.5 years now, it has a set of 30" tires on it and is setup for rocky and rutted trails and does great. I have had a few issues but nothing really major considering it was a little abused when i bought it. It has never let me down or broken anything out on the trail. They are fine if you take care of them but they aren't like an old manual shift atv that you can just ride day in and day out without maintaining.

Remember to follow the rules of sxs ownership. 1. Always leave the complete contents of your cooler (domestic beers or soda) on the trail. 2. Take every opportunity to ride off trail especially when muddy. 3. Make sure to go down all trails that are narrower than your wheelbase. 4. Take all turns on the opposing side at wreckless speeds. 5. Have a strict belief that camping involves staying in a vehicle that is at least 25% the size of your house.

Watch the starter drive, friend of mine has the exact same year and displacement engine in their Artic Cat UTV & the starter drive failed, breaking pieces off the crankcase internally & rendering a perfectly good engine useless. They molded the RH crankcase half with the starter drive cast into it, bad design. This machine has been sitting for several years now as a result and the only fix is get a set of cases or find a good TIG welder who can rebuild the starter drive shaft bushing. Great video, thanks!

Easy fix. Typically it's only a problem with the X models with more compression. Kickback causes the carnage. But it's an easy fix if you find a person who welds aluminum. Can be fixed right on the machine.
