I Finally Fixed The XRS's Broken Hand Brake!

Today, I fix the non-functioning parking brake on my 2005 Toyota Corolla XRS and get it to finally work again!
And sorry for the blown up audio in the 2nd half of the video, I have no idea why that happened. No settings changed, everything plugged in correctly. Will have to troubleshoot before shooting the next video I guess.

19 years old! It's a Toyota and we know that a Toyota will last forever. Seriously though good that you fixed the hand break... it is pretty useful on a manual car

I just replaced both parking brake cables on my '05 CE, it's an East coast car and hooooo boy is it rusty, but man is it nice for the parking brake to work again, love the videos as usual! Edit: the parking brake cables rusted so bad they seized on, so for a while to prevent the rear drums from seizing we just kept backing off the adjustment screw (Not what I wanted to do but it's all I could work with since I didn't have the space or money for the repair and everyone kept telling me not to waste my money since my car was an automatic and it "didnt need a parking brake") and it ended up leading to where my rear drums were backed off so far I basically just had front brakes only, which had me rebuilding the front brakes for the 4th time because of overheating and warping!

Oh man I feel that, rust is enemy number one! And wow it's a good thing you fixed that, sucks having to repair your front brakes that many times!

keep the good quality up man, your channel makes me unable to wait for 2030, the year my Corolla is legal past the 25 year old rule and i'll be bringing my 05 Corolla from the UK

This is actually extremely useful, thank you for this video. I have similar problems with my '07 LE with drums in the back - would you suggest changing the shoes or the cables first?

I think assuming this parts are interchangeable with the American style Corolla you should see if you can find some Altis leather seats and an Altis steering wheel you'll know its an Altis steering wheel if its an oval and has wood both on the top and bottom I have an Altis and its just as comfortable to drive as a BMW E46 3 series

You can't do awd with the 6 speed manual, the 4 speed auto transmission with awd might be able to mount to the 2zz but it won't drive nearly as well.

Yeah I kind of have to do this to my 04 matrix xrs. I did put new shoes and springs and whatnot when I redid the brakes a few years ago (I don’t drive it much at all anymore….its needed cover gasket and now needs clutch). Tried to adjust but it won’t. Or maybe I’m just paranoid to adjust to too dang tight. It just doesn’t work. Btw Those bolts that hold the hub and on….are they torque to yield? I can’t remember if the manual has that little “don’t re use” symbol by them.

Huh, so is the adjustment knob seized? And for the bolts I only reinstalled them so I could end my video haha, I have new bolts on the way. Not sure if they're torque to yield and shouldn't be reused but considering what could happen if the reused bolts failed I'd prefer not to take that risk.

@@WillChang I just did mine, I had both knobs working perfectly fine until I soaked them in PB blaster to try and loosen any corrosion. That actually made one seize up. Couldn't even loosen with vice grips. Either way, its a good idea to take them apart and regrease them to make adjusting easier.

Basically it shakes a lot during idle and it starts to sound like a misfire but when I plug the obd2 it shows me ignition coils #2 is working properly but I changed it and yet nothing it only stops if I disconnect the maf and clean the pvc valve and reconnect the battery. I’m assuming it’s a vacuum leak because there was a hose that was toasted. Please let me know. If you have email I can send videos just tryna get help yk
