watching the boys series episode by episode, thinking "oh, next episode won't be so fucked up", and the show is like " well, you ain't seen nothing yet". i watched whole series once, and i was left feeling like " what the fuck did i just watch". Like every imaginable and unimaginable thing, they somehow managed to just do everything. it's a well written series though.

I'm sure someone will tell you, but Karl Urban (Billy Butcher) has played Cupid & Caesar on Xena, Eomer in Lord of the Rings, Judge Dredd in Dredd, Dr. McCoy in the Star Trek reboot and a bunch of other roles. He's a total comic geek, so am not surprised he sought out this role.

Fun fact: Sweater Dad is Simon Pegg from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, among others. Hughie (his son), in the comics, is modelled after him and he was originally going to play the role but he aged out of it before the show could be produced.

Without giving any spoilers, this show gets raw ... and even more raw .... and EXTREMELY raw as it goes along. It crosses SO many lines. That being said, it is a great plot and story.

Looking back on the first episode after catching up with the last season, it really makes Hughie's resentment for A-Train through out the series even more empathetic n understandable especially when A-Train took his sweet time to give him an actual genuine apology.

Anthony Starr has been a familiar face to NZ audiences since he was a teen, and I've never been so thrilled for a Kiwi to hit the big time as when he landed the role of Homelander. I knew he'd rock it, and well, he does! For the show to end up with Karl Urban too (also a Kiwi), is a delight, and I'm stoked you're enjoying The Boys as much as I thought you would! The Boys is very hard to get into, but once you get in… it is like an abusive relationship. On the one hand, you end up really wanting to see what is next… on the other you get smacked in the face with an unbelievable amount of graphic violence. It’s very inappropriate… but it is well written. Invincible is a better version, in my opinion. It’s easier to watch as it is less violent overall, but I watch them both.

invincible might be better only because it's animated, meaning they can do much more, can get away with a lot more. Animations allow you to basically do anything, with the only limitation being your imagination (and finance). If you are sensitive to graphical content, im afraid this show isn't for you

The robin scene at the start of the pilot hits me different now. When it first aired I had been single for a long time and was more enthralled with the effects of that shot. Now that I'm engaged and imagine what if that was my fiancé, I absolutely can sympathetically feel his shock, horror and pain on a much deeper level now.

It’s overwrought violence like 80’s movies. It’s like the uncanny valley. It’s dark humor because it’s so ridiculous you know it’s not real so it doesn’t make you disgusted like real violence. I love this show. Homelander is the scariest character I’ve ever seen. His facial expressions alone will scare you once you have watched it awhile.
