That is awesome welcome to the club! It's by far, the best floor modeler on planet earth.

Congrats! I'm also glad the expression pedals aren't a part of the FM9. As you say, it saves on size. It also saves expense, as I can use the pedals I already have. And, if a pedal were to break or start performing poorly, it's a quick, cheap swap-out, rather than having the whole unit down for servicing. Plus, I might prefer the feel of a specific brand of expression pedal, or want to position it away from the main unit.

@@BagusWibisono on my Helix I’m running true stereo: a fender twin for clean on both L & R and on L channel I have a PRS Archon with its own delay reverb cabs and comps and the R channel I have a Friedman w it’s on delay reverb cabs and comps. I have a delay in between the two channels set to 20ms so it’s a huge stereo 2 double tracked guitars type sound. I have 4 snapshots set up. Clean, Crunch, Dirty, Lead and I have a seamless gapless switching between all. I can not do this w my FM9 I am limited to 2 amps and if I want to changed to a clean amp I have a big gap in the sound.

@@daviguitar2000 it can do it now that the update allows for gapless. Until this beta it couldn’t do what the helix could do because the FM9 pre allocates the DSP to certain things where the helix allows you to allot it to anything you want

I wonder if they are catching up on orders for the FM9. I signed up for the FM9 and FM3 on Monday and I got the invite email for the FM9 yesterday (immediately bought it). I am glad the FM9 invite came first since it appears to be the better choice! My Helix Lt is over 4 years old and the footswitchs are wearing down, I play just about every weekend. I loved that thing but wanted to try something different. After a few hours of tutorials, I am really excited for the FM9 to come next week. Your layout seems really cool as well! Thanks for the video!

lastly the built in expression pedal for the helix Lt has some rough history. Two people in my circle have had theirs break with less than heavy use. I don't use it and prefer using the VP junior volume pedal.

I’ve had a Kemper, Full Helix Floor, MX5, HX Stomp and a couple others. Finally got so sick and tired of needing a freakn degree just to build patches, scenes etc that I sold them all and got a Boss Katana Artist series with GAFC EX control pedal. $750 total and couldn’t be happier. After 8 years of all these modelers I’m freakn DONE. My Artist series will do anything these will but 1 million times easier and immediately. And I also don’t need an FrFr or separate cab. Need a freakn PHd just to play guitar anymore. On a side note, this thing is sick and my stupid ass will probably get one. FUCK

LoL. You sound almost exactly like me. I have a Boss Katana 100. I have a Boss GT-100. I have a Line 6 Helix Rack. I have a Headrush Prime. Out of them all, the easiest by far is the Boss GT 100. When I'm gigging, 80 to 90 percent of the songs we cover are done with a mere 4 tones. These 4 core tones are altered depending on the song ... you know ... chorus here ... delay ... EQ etc. The four tones I use are Sultans of Clean, Dirty Foghat, Reverb of the Freebird, and Turn That Racket Down. In other words, from clean to ultra distortion. If there's a song we're doing that's got some complex array of effects, I find the core tone and then add what effects is needed to replicate the tone used in the song. A good friend of mine that passed away a few years ago was a really good guitar player. He told me that you don't need more, you need as little as possible - less IS more. Keep it simple stupid. Now that I'm older and (GASP) listening to "that motherfucker ain't from Earth" country shredders like Matheus Canteri, I discovered a guitar I never thought in billion years I'd fall in love with - A TELECASTER. God damn, I'm officially fucking old and kick myself in the ass for not buying a Telecaster 40 years ago.

Two different animals ANthony. I have both as well. LOVE my Katana. If it works for you- great, but it is no FM9- not by a country mile. The effects are far better than anything Line6 right out the box. The interface is tricky though but you can make say ~10 main go to patches on your PC easy enough over 1 weekend and be done with it. Then it can act even better than using the GAFC. You have set lists with 8 scenes in each. Night and day different. With my FM9- I still use my Katana via a simple AB/Y switch. Best of both worlds. Stereo lush delays to studio monitors in front of me and an amp to the left of me. Surrounded by sound.

@@MOAB-UT if people think they need all the “ great stuff “ a modeler does for 3x more money, have at it. Like I said, I can do anything any modeler can do with the Katana Artist. If you need more than 5 effects at a time then you can’t play guitar very well anyways
@MOAB-UT
@MOAB-UT Жыл бұрын
@@BAND-MAID-USA I tried to be nice. I said if it works for you great. You would not let it go. You are clueless and simply don't want to spend the money to invest in quality gear. Period. You have a scarcity mindset. You will have that one amp for the next 20 years. Your playing likely won't improve either with your scarcity mindset. You have not the first clue about set-lists feature, dual, high-quality ping-pong reverbs + dual amps, sprinkled in and glorious Tri-Chorus, various cab options and a lot more. I also play unplugged so you don't have to try to imply that if I tastfully enhance my performances with various, light effects, it means I cannot play. I guess you think that Metallica can't play then. They run not one but two Fractal Axe-FX III's. No, not a one of them runs a Katana on stage. I digress, clearly you are a angry know it all type. If Fractal is good enough for thousands of casual users as well as these ARTISTS, www.fractalaudio.com/artists/ it is surely good enough for me. You must be better than all of us. You certainly seem to know more than all of us. So your limit is 5 effects? Why not 6? Do you even hear yourself. Also, you had many of these units. Aside from money, maybe you struggle to figure things out. Maybe settle on one and take the time to learn it. Is this how you behave in relationships too- jump from one to another, then blame them and the universe when it does not work out? I am sure that I am right. I know your type. It's all about you- all the time. Massive ego. And I say this as a dude. Do better. You think you are cool but you are not. Namaste.

The editor is a free download on the Fractal site. I’d say if you are going to be plugging into a PA a lot then, yes, invest in a good FRFR set up. Ideally, I’d go with a quality powered PA speaker like a QSC. Start with one and you can go up from there.

@@marktan7618 B-Stock means somebody bought it and sent it back. So maybe he returned it because the FM9 was too big for him or he doesn't like the sound or whatever. But it could be that there was a cut somewhere. But if you buy a B-Stock FM9 than the FM9 gets a functional check. If something doesn't work than the item is not ready to sell.

I'd rather they didn't, as it would add expense, fragility, and a different workflow (would it still accommodate the current one?). I'm also happy to use their editing utility on a laptop. But... I can see where you and others would want a different interface, and that's cool. Perhaps someday they'll make an Android/iPhone app that will provide the touch interface? We'll see.

Axe has a bit more horsepower, and I/O, but it's all the same architecture, so form factor is the big one. Anyone that already has an Axe-FX III may not see the need, but someone on the fence between the two may enjoy saving the $800 and sacrificing a few blocks, and I/O

Maybe I'm a minority but I sold my fm9 turbo after 5 months. No way that you can use factory presets out of the box, imo, you just have to spend time tweaking. But if you do, yes, it sounds good. @@keithmulcahy3417 First, they are the same price. I bought a FM9 Turbo. The UI on the Helix and/or LT is better but the FM9 is better overall. In a mix though you will never really tell. The full helix can come close if you work on making patches custom. Get whichever one you like- don't consider the price since they are the same. You could really save by getting a used LT. Get any Helix that is not registered so you can get a discount on Helix Native PI which is quite good.

I would say, it's true, Fractal may OR no 'tweaking", depends the person. In my opinion, the FM9 does have more things to do adjust, if you're trying to copy by tone-to-tone, FM9 will have the exact sound/tone you're looking for. Now I have one, I would say, Fractal is the best and TOP modeler in the world.
