@@pr.paradox1970Yeah no. Red, pink, purple and yellow lines have all 5000’s. You don’t need 7000’s. However orange and blue line needs them BAD.

@@pr.paradox1970 reason is because the Blue and Pink (formerly Blue branch) lines use the oldest infrastructure on the system, and the 5000 series cars are just too heavy to run on them

RE: smoother ride, Ima kinda miss the sometimes violent rides we used to get in my time (1962-1979). Between the awful track and the car suspensions, you could get thrown around like a rag doll on a bucking bronco (crossovers & switches). Especially fun/challenging if you were standing, holding onto that overhead rail for dear life!

I used to ride the blue line when they had the vintage folding four door cars. When transferring from Ohare to midway I avoided taking the blue line because it was notorious for delays and cost double from the airport. Instead I took the 330 Mannheim/Lagrange to Archer/Harlem. However, I would like to try out these clean, cool cars.

@@gregorylparks5739 Apparently CTA is only doing the 400 car option for the 7000s and after that they'll move on to the 9000s

I remember when Logan Square elevated station used to be the last stop. Then Jefferson Park was the new last stop for a long time and the yards were west of that.

My gurlfriend and I went from Montrose to Logan Square with the new train on the Blue Line in the middle of March during our one week vacation. Only a few stops, but I immeowdiately meowticed the white LED displays and the screens. :) Greetings from Switzerland!

I'm used to the old 6000 series and 5-50 series that ran on the Congress and Douglas Milwaukee lines. Rode the 2000 series on the Douglas Park line a few times with my aunt when I was little. Got to ride the 2200 series too on those lines. Rode spanking brand new 2600, and 2700 series on the Douglas Park line too

The LCD screen panel on the 7000 series kinda reminds me of the Kawasaki R211's FIND(Flexible Information Next Stop Display) panel.

@@Thom-TRA me too. some higher ups in Marta went to the plant and viewed the cars and did a VR tour .they were impressed . ive been to Chicago Twice . rode the green line ( 63rd and Ashland, Red line to S.Halsted and Cermak-Chinatown. ) i noticed the rails were louder than the ones in Atlanta but CTA is older . the engineering and elevation was impressive .

Nice trains, but CTA would be wise to follow NYC's lead and convert to the bench style seating throughout. Because the CTA trains are more narrow the scoop style seating can create more bottlenecks. So far NYC and Boston are the only systems that seem to use the bench style seating throughout, definitely more efficient!

I agree. DC Metro is moving to a half-and-half layout, where it will be benches on one side and forward facing seats on the other.

I rode a 7000 series but it was already so dirty and grimy somehow. Idk how that happened but it was pretty drab. And the AC didn't work at all. The LCD was even showing the wrong line. It would randomly change what line it was showing 😂.

The interior is quite spartan but I guess the El only really carries people short distances. Were these US made or imported then assembled in the US like the Alexander Dennis Enviro buses and the old NABI branded Solos

I didn't go on these new trains when I went to Chicago, but I am certain that Chicagoans' transit rides have gotten a little better. Hopefully these cars don't end up the same way as the MBTA's CRRC cars. (These cars were made by CRRC)

You have a good point, I wouldn't say it's ugly per se, but take away the blue paint on the front and the modern headlights, and there are probably a group of different American subway train models with the exact same looks. Where is the rest of the paint? I've also never seen any other country put little flags right next to the doors of their trains, just in case you forget which country you're in, wonder if there's any reason for that too.

I love the 7000 series cars of DCs Metro subway system. However they had major problems with , I think, the wheel alignment. Each one had to be removed from DCs rolling stock and each corrected, re inspected and placed back in service. Love them.
