I finally learned to take care of myself - expanding my world
In this video I wanted to recap a bit of my journey towards better mental and physical health by making small but sustainable changes in my daily life, hopefully to encourage all of you who are trying to make some lifestyle changes for the new year! After hitting a particular low in my life, I decided to try to learn to be my best friend, change my thought patterns, and learn to be a little more ‘free’. It’s a long journey and I will never reach the end, but each step has been so rewarding and made me fall in love with learning how to thrive as a sensitive person in a complicated world. Hello everyone! Hope you are having a magical December ❤ I know many people are trying to take better care of their mental and physical health, especially as a goal for the new year, and I hope to encourage all of you! After experiencing challenges regarding addictive behaviors, workaholism, and several other issues I’ve made videos about, as I matured I realized all those behaviors were just symptoms of an inner wound I needed to heal. I had to start by making practical changes in my life to help me step out of my comfort zone, but it became so much more than that ❤ sending much love and well wishes for a lovely new year of peace and gratitude and nurturing a humble heart 🥰

When you expand your world beyond the confines of the struggles you are facing, you slowly begin to realize that what you're struggling with doesn't have to be your entire world. It can be a part of who you are in the present, but by no means does it define you or dictate your worth. And it certainly doesn't need to be in your future. Things change. We grow. And the mountains we never thought we'd be able to climb start to look like hills in hindsight. And that's a hard thing to believe. But I need to believe it to go forward. And in the beauty of that journey, you become aware that you are strong.

When I was a kid my grandma used to read me a book called ‘Hailstones and Halibut Bones’ it is such a beautiful book that describes colors. I read it every year around Christmas and it always brings joy to my heart.

26 years ago, after years of trying to get pregnant, my husband and I found out we were expecting. It was the most joyous Christmas ever, sharing our news and sonograms with our families on Christmas morning. There were many tears of joy shed that day, and I still think of it as the best Christmas with the most miraculous Christmas present ever. Blessings to you and your wee one. I have a rarre eye disease ad can't just pick up a book and read anymore. I t was one of the hardest things for me as I LOVE boks and reading. We adapt and realize we are so blessed in so many ways. Thank God for Audble and I can listen to the books that I love. Listening to Barbra Streisnads memoir. It is wonderful.. It is like a lullaby with your favorite stars. xoxo

@BathtubLovingGuy totally agree. Learn acceptance to what we can’t change,acknowledge the rest and love ourselves while working towards our goals. And I often think if superficial then stop but health oriented of course. Ie exercise to look great and impress vs to be healthy and in my reasoning with osteoarthritis and herniation degeneration in my spine to keep walking upright.

Dear Cottage Fairy: Thank you so much for your words of wisdom. They really touched me. AFTER years of dweling into perfectionism, I have decided that it is not healthy for my body and mind. As you wisely stated, it is more practical to live a life of humbleness and patience. I am a teacher in my last years before retirement, and I am not enjoying it. I need to slow down, and smell the flowers. I don't like living in the future anymore, and unfortunately, teaching is all about planning. I have to endure, and push it till the end. I had my baby in my 30s. It was the best I could do. I had the wisdom and patience to serve my child properly and with lots of love. For me it was almost a miracle. My goodness...the lovely gifts that you received and their packaging seemed so reflective of your character. Someone chose well! On the flip side and for a bit of a chuckle, let me relay quickly the story of what my teenage son got me for Christmas last year. It’s the first time that he‘ s ever chosen a gift for me on his own without asking for any hints as to what I might like. I knew that he had little money and when I felt a small box through the gift wrap, thought perhaps it was some chocolate or other type of generic gift. Now before I let you know what he gave me, I’ll tell you that I’m a woman in her 50s and like women of that age, my body has been going through some changes. As such, my son decided to gift me with a nose hair trimmer!!!
