In hindsight, it being a ring made it worse. In 1 you lose your ring finger, in 2 you burn it, so having a ring to show your commitment to the creed does seem like a natural progression.

Haytham Kenway is liked because he is charismatic, intelligent, ruthless and elegant and makes Templar cause and ideology mean something and his reasons are logical. In Assassin's Rogue he was under utilized, the game could have been more if it was extended lil long and made Haytham a payable character like AC3.

My only question towards rogue was the writing. In any assassin's creed game the Templars are unquestionably evil performing literally war crimes and assassin's are underdogs fighting against them. one of the first interactions with assassin's in rogue is you destroying a poison refining facility that thrratenes general populace??????????? It's extremely black and white and in every game the enemy faction is painted so unquestionably evil it's hard to have a moral dilemma

He wasnt really. Its just that the tides of who is right or wrong did get blurred and it tipped to the Templar's side by this point. We only ever get to see Haytham's way on Connor's POV. While his goals ruined a ton, it was bringing stability to the world, unlike the Creed where they just go on a power grab to take a piss on the Order. Kinda neat and also pays homage to the beginning of the series where the lines were really blurred to begin with.

This is how you write Villain. The way they utilise his aggression whether passive or fully blown it never comes off as out of nowhere like it has with most of AC villains or even your average movie villain for that matter. You know why Haytham would harm, threaten or kill a man and we don't have a whole back story to explain it unless you read the novel if anything his entire character in this game is well explained in his performance through the acting and a good written script. The actor who played Judge Claude Frollo in Hunchback of Notre Dame said it best. 'A good Villain is where his actions are understandable but not excusable'

The Haytham is a templar twist at the beginning is insanely good The Colonies/frontier setting is fantastic and fits extremely well with AC Even though Connor is a bit of a bland character, I still enjoyed his story and killing Lee at the end was extremely satisfying. I wish they spent more time developing Connor having some belief in the Assassin's Creed. Haytham clearly believes in the Templar cause, for better or worse, and believes in the greater good. Connor being solely motivated by his misguided and misinformed vengeance against Charles Lee hurts his character, especially when he learns the truth, but refuses to even consider joining his father. I just never got the vibe he was truly indoctrinated into the Assassin's way of thinking and he carried on his grudge out of stubbornness.

Haytham was a step in the right direction for the AC franchise, he was the start of the Templars going from mustache twirling villains to something more grey. I like that for a while, the Templars and Assassins genuinely had good points for why they were doing what they were doing. Not shitting on the old mustache twirling Templars of yore. Rodrigo Borgia and the rest of his allies are genuinely great, I love them as villains, but allowing the player to connect and see Haytham for who he is, and what he stands for, allowed the Templars and Assassins to be less black and white. Hopefully Ubisoft can have the Templars return to their former glory in the future (note: I haven't played much of the RPG games, I've only played through a part of Origins and Odyssey, and haven't even touched their DLC, Valhalla, or Mirage, no spoilers if they come back please🙏)

The thing about Haytham is that what he's doing isn't helping the Templar at all. The thing is that if Charles Lee inform Haytham of Washington's attack on his wife's village he would have use his authority to send a contingent of soldiers to prevent the attack from happening as during the War for Independence the natives are allies with the English so them seeing Red Coats coming to help them is basically the English strengthening their relationship with the natives. If that were to happen then Connor would have no doubt follow in his father's footstep. An alternative scenario would be the natives of Connor's village receive warning from the hunters that the Blue Coats are coming which would give everyone time to flee. Connor would then be summoned by the elder to be shown an apple of Eden then the rest would play out the same except Achilles would lie to Connor that it was the English disguise as the Colonial soldiers that attack the village to make them look bad resulting in Connor just killing the Red Coats helping the soon to be American until he would meet his father who told him the truth which in term makes Connor lose his trust with Achilles, but his action has consequences. Currently the English well lose the war, America well be born, and the natives well be driven up North into Canada meaning Connor well lose his family due to his action until Haytham suggest that he work with him to insure the natives remain.

I liked haytham because all previous main characters were either reckless and careless or rightful warriors of light at different points of their games. Typical protagonists. But Haytham instantly showed himself as the "boss" of any situation he's in, he showed ruthlessness.

There were a few clues to his true allegiance. One being the part at the end of the video. At the time, I thought for an "Assassin", his attitude is a little off lol

Another character showing once again that the templars could have right choices and assassins could make wrong ones. Neither are the protagonist, just whoever you play as. Some are brutal but so are the assassins. I mean in syndicate they help save Karl Marx… bruh that dude rivals Hitler in ideology.

Not really lil bro. Go actually read about the things Marxist ideology has inspired. Otherwise, it would've been more controversial to have a Karl Marx mission Anyways, your point is still true. AC Rogue has this as its premise. Assassins ruthlessly chased artifacts without care for consequences on civilians
