What's wild is that every One Piece fan warns people that it starts really slow but hang in there and it'll get better. For me I got definitively hooked in the mid 30s for episodes. It's really only in retrospect that the beginning feels slow. Because the scope just gets so big. It really is the best story ever told in my completely biased opinion.

This is a person that sees a show with his eyes/heart and not his ass, amazing.He's nailed the whole feel of the story completely. Some people are so used to see a show with more than 24 ep having a stroke and think that all will be boring filling. that they forget that this show is a lively breathing world expanding and its an amazing and fun adventure.

I don't know why, but I get some deep sense of euphoric joy whenever I watch someone discover the One Piece for what it really is, a story. Oda is such a good mangaka and has done such an amazing job on this masterpiece, I'm glad you appreciated it after so few episodes, and I hope you're still enjoying the ride.

I'm so excited for you!!! My husband got me on this about ten years ago lol. We took a big break in the middle at one point but it took us about ten years to get through it all. We actually switched over to reading the manga at one point - highly recommend that too! We're all caught up now and experiencing stuff with the rest of the world has been super fun. I definitely have a hard time recommending it since it's just SO LONG but it's also just so very very very good. Enjoy your journey!

I still remember almost 20 years ago how impressed I was... The art style was something so different from everything I have seen before. Also, it escapes that "main character fights the big enemy, gets defeated, train and come back again to win". In One Piece, the fights are decided there, there are no loses and come backs. This eventually happens, but has some strong meaning and are necessary for the story telling, not a resource to fill lack of creativity.

"Wow, this show moves fast." Oda packs as much story into every chapter as he possibly can, which is why it is so ridiculous that the series is as long as it is. There's always something new to discover and so many little details crop back up and get developed in greater depth in the future. There's nothing else like it in the world!

I think one thing that makes the arc system of one peice work is partly that the arcs are based on location first rather than plot. They're not ABOUT the straw hats 'doing a thing', they're about going to a new place an exploring it and the issues going on in that place, and it allows the series to feel more naturally segmented because of that.

You hit the nail on the head with the line about wholesome. There's a big theme of 'found family' throughout the entire series, where you can build bonds stronger than just blood relation and you'll do anything to protect it. That's what hooks me on this show and all it's characters. Even the most of the 'bad guys' are protecting something.

That's one of the most amazing things about this show: it never contradicts itself. I can guarantee you that after 20+ years, the original spirit of the first episodes is still mantained. Like you said, this show feels very genuine and straightforward, and it does from the very start. I appreciated that you already noticed that in this show there is no clear line between good and evil: this aspect is going to give you some real emotional and intellectual roller-coasters later in the show ;)

I would love another video like this every couple of arcs to see how your opinions and experiences change! I started One Piece last year and it took me probably 15-20 episodes to get into it and I was watching a couple episodes everyday for months. Such a great experience!

I finally started one piece last year and I’m currently on episode 832. I’ve never been a huge shounen fan but the world building and story telling had me hooked from the first few episodes as well! And now I would consider it one of my all time favorite animes 🥰

I’m pretty sure every one piece fan can relate to the anime being hard to start in the beginning because of the “there might be too many episodes” or “the characters might suck” but after watching probably up to Alabasta, it’s hard to stop, after I caught up to one piece, I literally had no idea what to watch

You can see every character's growth during the show... even those that show up for a little bit earlier, and again way later on, the show does a good job depicting how they've grown, or at least changed in a way or another. Except for Zoro's sense of direction... that's hopeless

I dont think any one piece fan is crossing their arms at you gushing about the series after 10 episodes. I think anyone that sees this video is going to be super stoked and waiting in anticipation for you experience some of our favorite moments

As someone approaching ep 600, I gotta say that it keeps you hooked to the point where it feels like no time has passed IRL The only time I ever skipped episodes was the arc with the Foxy Pirates, mainly because I devolve into a screen punching lunatic whenever a plot with "Here's a blatantly unfair competition were bad guys cheat, and you get in trouble for trying to cheat back" happens 😅 I did watch the highlights through reaction vids- and was able to witness Luffy reach peak power as Afro Luffy so im glad I did.

Trust me, I think you’re going to love the Sanji part of it. The situations Luffy gets himself into in that part is are pretty funny. 😂Overall I’m not all that far from the Alabasta segment, but I don’t want to spoil too much of what’s ahead. You’re definitely going to enjoy it, man! Good luck. 👒😁

Your enthusiasm for the show in such a short time warms this old sea dog's heart. You can thank the anime gods you didn't have to suffer thru the weird choices of the 4kids dub of One Piece, which still haunts the english fandom. After it ended I went on to other edgier anime, but after a few years I was nostalgic for my sweet rubber boy, and I found out the anime had gone on for another 300 episodes since. That took a while to catch up to. Funimation does it right, not messing with perfection.

In my opinion(Even though you already seem to like it) getting to arlong park is the definitive way to test your compatibility to the show. It’s a fantastic arc but what sets it apart is the emotional points it hits and when people care about the characters themselves as if they were real life people is when they truly understand how powerful Oda’s writing truly is

One Piece really gives you the damn hype, the way it escalates to the perfect arc its genuinely amazing lmao, each and every saga really refreshes your hunger for something good makes it so good to watch

Hey i've also begun watching One Piece and I completely agree with you. The world feels so large the characters are all so great I get excited just seeing previous characters even if its just luffy talking about someone or just one short bit to see how they are doing. I'm currently at episode 69 (No joke) and man Its exciting!! No spoilers for people like me who have also just begun or plan on watching but trust me its worth it. These arcs get better and better the more you watch.

This is so relatable lmao I started watching around august 20 and now I'm at episode 430+ :) I feel terrible for missing out on such a good story all these years now, I love One Piece so much.

Also it's amazing how more and more people are getting into One Piece by the time we get to the final arc of the story probably in 3 to 5 years this anime will be number 1 world wide not just in certain countries.

Me too, I started One Piece in March 23 and finished it (including the manga) in November 15. It was completely worth and I'm hyped for what is to come!

Learning that other people are discovering/starting and enjoying One Piece brings immense joy to my heart! Always great to know others have experienced the same awesome moments that the series has to offer and hopefully the rest of the series treats you well if you decide to stick with it. Oda is an anomaly and we're all here to witness his masterpiece in the making. Stopping now would be nothing short of missing out on absolute peak fiction.

I found it much easier to read the manga. Although, I must admit actually hearing voices and seeing dynamic movement adds to the feel of One Piece in a way that cannot be described with words. I read up to Punk Hazard when I was a teen and stopped for some reason, but I can't remember why. I left it for a while until I found out that they were getting very close to chapter 1000 and decided I wanted to catch up before they got there. They were on chapter 992. Since I knew pre time skip so well, I decided to start right after it; chapter 598. I caught up in just under 3 weeks. At that speed I probably could have done the whole thing in time. I didn't start watching the anime weekly until they were at episode 1015. Of course, I saw 1000 when it premiered, but I didn't have time to keep up. After 1015 I went back and downloaded each episode, 1 by 1 since the torrents for full arcs were massive and my internet is shit. Took ages, but I got em all. I'm now currently caught up in both. When you finally see 1015, you'll know why. The story and detail, among other things, are on another level. If you have enjoyed it this much in only 10 episodes, my boy, you are in for the ride of your life. Cherish your time with the Straw Hats because you only get to experience it for the first time once. I envy you.

Great video! I am really glad more and more people are starting One Piece. Recently I rediscovered op doing a marathon form the beginning and honestly, now that I am older, I appreciated this series a lot more and I finally remembered why I loved it so much. The characters, the world building, the sense of aventure and especially the fact that even after so many years it still surprises me and still makes me feel so exited for what will come next, all this things contributed to make it one of my favorite series (and not just anime) of all time.

its wonderful how you already have so many thoughts on the series and youre only TEN episodes in!! im honestly a bit jealous of people who get to watch/read one piece for the first time as an adult, bc when i was a child and started watching the series after school randomly, i didnt think about the philosophies of the characters, or the dichotomy of good and evil in a series where the main characters are teeechnically the villains(/rude freelancers) of the world, but in the last few years ive thought so much about what makes one piece my fave piece of media ever. and you already spoke about one of them: one piece's world feels GIGANTIC and so well thought out (bc it is), everything makes sense in a weird way, going from place to place doesnt feel contrived, and im not constantly wondering, as i have been in other shonen series: "what the hell is the rest of the world doing??" you know? like when in shonen series (at least the ones youre meant to take seriously), the bad guys will blow up half of a city in japan or in a fictional world, and you think "did literally no other city/country/whatever see this? is this not a fucking huge deal that would result in the whole world wanting to know what the fuck happened??" bc in one piece, we KNOW what the whole world looks like (of course more details are revealed as you watch, but like - youre 10 episodes in and you already know the basic structure of the whole planet, its so cool), so it never feels like "what s the rest of the world doing?" and more like "i wonder when we'll get to see the rest of the world" and i love that SO much!

One piece is one of thevstory that get better with time. So people get hooked to it after watching few ep. It set the bar so low at first, even mid ep and arc feels great. With all the time people spend watching it, creates an emotional bonds with the person. Which Is great in a way.

one piece has been my comfort show for 3 very tough years, i keep periodically watching other anime bc i don’t want to catch up. i’m right around episode 850 now and i can’t believe it, if you would’ve told me i’ve only been watching it half that long i’d believe you. as they say, time flys when you’re having fun

OP has crack in it! The number of episodes scares any newbie but once you start watching you suddenly feel blessed that there are that many episodes. It's like tasting your best food and realizing you can eat more. I caught up but still revisit earlier episodes

3 ways to indulge One Piece: 1. Read it - My recommendation is 1 chapter a day, you got 3+ years of content unless you catch yourself in a binge session. Which is liable to happen with an arc you just vibe with. 2. Watch it from episode 1 - The older 2004 style of animating and its weird stare-offs and all, its the most genuine way to watch it with the best experience that will give you ALL the feels. 3. Movie HD Remakes - Watching the Movie remakes of entire sections of the story cuts a LOT of the bullshit out, but also, a lot of the emotional connections one feels when watching the episode format. 4. coming soon is the Netflix adaptation, and I am cautiously optimistic, but with Oda (One Piece's creator) being an Executive Producer means that we will likely get the quintessential Live Action experience. Biggest problem with this is how fast they will have to go due to the actors aging.

One Piece is a completely adventure, it's like being part of the crew with them and knowing more and more. Sometimes it could be a little bit tiring and if you need break, you can completely take a it but it's worth it. You nailed why I got hooked. The world moves on even when the MC doesn't. You learn a lot about how the world operates. Not so much how the world reacts to MC.

If he's already this into it at episode 10, he is going to have so much fun with it. One Piece is going to sink its little claws in him and never let him go

Damn thats awesome. Always happy to see and hear people picking up and liking peak fiction. I wasn't really feeling feeling it till Arlong Park. That's around episode 30. It was good from the start, but didn't really grab me. Its just keeps getting better and better as it goes (for the most part)

I think a year ago, I got my friends to watch one piece. While they were hesitant, once they started watching it, they were hooked, like people on crack lol. They even started reading the manga and watching movies, because they want more

“A generous 10 episodes” is usually a very, very fair attempt at a series. The thing here is, the first 100 episodes are more or less a prologue to the rest of the story to come. If you’re already this interested after just 10 eps, you’re in for a hell of a ride. 👌🏽

This happened to me, too. I wanted a new anime, and I was just too drawn to the art style to not at least give it a shot despite the length. I was very happy to find that the show itself is just as unique as the art design. I am about 75 episodes in now, and I don't think I'm going to watch anything else until I get caught up.
