Ahh Kay, I've found your content at the right time. I'm a 32 year old dude and only just getting into aviation, it's totally fascinating me. The vast majority of the content comes from dudes my age and above - seeing enthusiasm for this from a woman really means something. I'm maybe a bit overly sensitive as my wife and I are having a daughter in August...these videos make it seem so much more possible that my kid and I may one day share this interest. Go get 'em, Kay!

In that airplane the air intake for the Carb is behind the calendars. Cessna are in front. Carb heat is only needed if the carb is icing up. The air intake in a piper is always some what worm.

Kay, Great video! Two comments: Application of pilot heat prior to entering cloud might be beneficial to dissipate moisture as well as lesson freezing especially since there was a temperature drop. And after landing, flaps shouldn't be retracted until clear of the runway. Really important when you're in a complex aircraft to lesson chance of accidental gear retraction...not that is possible in your aircraft, but is good SOP. Keep those wings level...CAVU to you!
@FlyWithKay
@FlyWithKay Жыл бұрын
Fair enough for the carb heat! As far as the flaps retraction thing goes, I fly in windy conditions so after landing I always retract the flaps so that I don’t inadvertently go back in the air. I do have my complex endorsement though, so that part I agree with! Thank you for watching and for the advice, I’ll take all of that into consideration! 😊

On Sunday morning I was flying with a friend to the Willam T. Piper memorial airport for a pancake breakfast. The airport is located in Lock haven, Pa. The breakfast was organized by Sentimental Journey. We were flying from our home airport in Quakertown, Pa. On the way there his iPad attached to a suction cup came loose and landed on my knees. It’s been my experience that that those suction cups can be unreliable.

Great video, I wish I could be as interesting. Here in Ohio, at 4000 and above feet we still use heat. I got in my plane the other day, paint was blistering from the runway, it was up to 77*F, my heat was full hot. Just so you know you are not alone, I too pour oil upon myself, cowl and or engine every opportunity I get. My cowboy boots are stained by horse stuff, blood and Phillips 66 Victory with the special Lycoming additive to keep my engine happy. It’s a fashion statement.

Poor man's flight instruction. Good job! Please add one more item to your pre-flight checklist. Where do I land if the engine quits at the end of the runway? One of our pilots with 20 plus years of experience had this happen to him. He made the impossible turn and landed on a parallel runway. All he remembers is thinking about was keeping my airspeed.

You hit on something that I don't think anyone talks about. Could you do a video on the costs of landing in the different levels of airports. Like, how much is it to fly into a class Bravo airspace. People talk about the cost of owning a plane with things like annuals, maintenance and fuel but nothing no the cost of landing the plane when you are away from your home base. For instance, how much is it to store a plane, what fees are for landing your plane and such. I don't thing those costs are talked about in plane ownership.

Just discovered your videos. I am a returning pilot after many years off. I working on my BFR and have transitioned from always flying Cessna 172's to a Piper Archer. One thing I find odd is going from a plane with a door on both passenger and pilot side to no door on the pilot side. It seems to me that in an emergency landing this is somewhat of a safety issue. Am I being irrational or are you technically more safe with a door on both sides?

I'm not sure which part you're referring to, but in a small aircraft, turbulence can cause the plane to look like it's making a sudden turn. It's something you don't see in large, commercial aircraft as they go out of their way to avoid anything but light turbulence.

You should have been a Bird you love to fly so much. Birds don't have to worry about motor problems like an air plane. You should know God made the Birds to fly but he made man to walk on our feet. I know walking is way to slow but air planes are way to dangerous because they are made by men not God. You'll be able to fly someday just like the Angles do, so don't rush things, just take your time and live to be an old lady. I'll bet you'll be a pretty old lady and will make a pretty Angel too. Good luck flying and God Bless you .
