It seems to be in good cosmetic shape though, so I’d say ya, restore it, but just on your own time. I have been wanting a Conn C Mel for some time, so I’m jealous!

What a find...definitely a fixer upper. I found a 1937 Selmer Balanced Action in a pawn shop recently for $130. It is off at a restoration shop as I type this. Preserving these instruments is both an honor and privilege.

I admire the OLDER horns;) . . . . I also just bought an 1885 Conn - Alto ...... I was happily surprized to find out that It played..... " not so bad " not knowing when it was last serviced . . . FIX ( or get yours ) fixed up !!! Sure... It will cost a few ducketts , but ?!?!?!?! well worth it ! Your C-Melody is basically a Tenor = it's just tuned to the C - melody - tuning . . I have a C-Melody and it works just fine with a tenor M/P ;) Enjoy !!!!

C-Melody saxophones are collectors items. Also take it to a local repair shop. Its worth fixing.

Yes. I have two old conn c- melody saxes, 1923 & 1926. The 1923 plays great, the other one is in pieces and is a long term self fix😄. I know some people are not a fan of the tone etc, but I really love the tone and I wish I had more opportunity to play it. I bought the 1923 to a gig once and played it in place of my tenor. It started some interesting conversations - I’m in a rock covers band🎷. Don’t make a lamp out of it, there are plenty of cheap modern saxes that are perfect for that purpose, and nothing else.

Looks like a great horn. Hard to find a decent C Melody nowadays. The neck and mouthpiece are interesting, I’ve never seen horns like that.

It’s going to cost about $500 to get it fixed. The neck tuner and all new pads is going to be expensive. You need to have it sanitized, of course and mechanically adjusted.

Not that c melodies have much monetary value, but that is one of the better c melody models. I bet the thing would play great if restored.

Can you tell me a way to play it? Is it like a reg sax? Cause I overhauled my +100 year old blusher in C melody.

When I see people putting together instruments that come apart in one piece I get so mad because I'm a clarinet player and it comes a part in five pieces

Wrong, Conn C melody's are valuable!! This sax is totally worth it to fix up and play, as far as C melody's go, the Conn was top of the line!!!! Even the case and mouthpiece are valuable!!!!!!!
