Congratulations on your first diamond find! I truly hope that the jeweler tells you some great news about the ring and that it ends up being worth something for the time it takes you to detect and to edit and put together the wonderful videos for all of us!

Hey! The metal music you play when you find metal made me giggle lol! It's great to see a woman treasure hunting too! I am also a jeweller and I have a few tips for you. Diamonds are never set into sterling 925 silver unless they are very poor quality (not clear and full of inclusions), so if you find something silver with a "diamond" like stone it is likely going to be cubic zirconia which is a manmade stone that's almost identical to diamond in appearance and just as beautiful. If the metal you find is heavily crusted up or corroded it is also not likely going to be silver or gold. Gold is a pretty non-reactive metal so it will always look gold in colour, even if it's been in the sea for 1000 years it will look just as golden than it did when it was lost! And also 925 silver will eventually oxidize to black. Hope that helps! Alex xx

@@shedigs Exactly! The band itself could also be palladium, which is a rarer metal than gold!

lol 🎵. I did an acid test at home and can confirm the metal that the stone is set into is 18k gold and the band is silver. I still need to bring it to a jeweler to clean it up and tell me about the stone. Update coming soon! 🙂

The stuck on stuff on the pendant is called "Concretion" it's coral that is encrusted to the metal.

Congrats of the DIAMOND! Re: Cleaning the crusty items, I would not recommend acidic liquids such as lemon juice or vinegar if at all possible. I would suggest that you use a microwave to heat hydrogen peroxide until almost boiling and then drop your item in it. It may take more that one immersion. It will NOT harm your item.
