I just wanted to update this post by saying a lot of people are hoping this motorized unit does a lot more than it's capable of, which is probably why the price is so low. Check this out! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n62nnrF1l9KzlJ8.html I know it's not exactly the most budget friendly alternative but this and any of the DJI Osmo Pocket series cameras have most of the tracking features we're all looking for.

The tilt needs resistance. An extended weight behind the camera will keep pressure on the geags keeping out slop and chatter.

I guess for the price, this motorized mount does a decent job. I might hold onto it for a while.

Sorry for the late reply. On this model with the remote, it moves really slow on the lowest setting, probably good panoramic shots.

I was just looking to get a gimble like this just so I can adjust the elevation angle on a camera in a 25 ft elevated position. (It appears this gimble could do this with no issues.) Do you think the remote control would work from 20 ft away?
@DigitalOutdoors
@DigitalOutdoors Ай бұрын
I think you should be ok. I believe I used the remote at about 20'. As long as there's nothing blocking it.
@RaivoLaanemets

Looks bad and too jerky for tracking but likely perfect for framing when the camera is in physically hard to reach place like near ceiling to get overhead shots. This is actually what I was looking for. And unlike a remote controlled gimbal, it does not require careful balancing (who has time for that?). Btw, I think some gimbals have the smooth tracking feature that you want.

I am running the Nikon P1000, its a beast to move on a tripod when your up around the 2000 to 3000mm range, moon, and star tracking, As we know its no $1000+ pro auto head but it does seem to do the job. and for the money its not bad. As always, looking on Aamazon, its a little mixed on the reviews, its a bit hit or miss, some are bad, and parts just don't work at all. others find them basically a good machine for the money. Got to give it a shot..

Hey! Thanx for an informative review. Looking for a camera mount foremost to use on top of a 5m hight tripod (yes it's really sturdy) using remote to manually pan following buddy's soccer game.Tha plan is to put up streams from away games for families and friends. Something like a manual low budget version of the AI sports tracking systems that's really out of team's budget. You thing panning speed will be enough? Will probably be panning left-right-left and so on for 60 min... 😂
@DigitalOutdoors

I think this would work great for that. It pans really good with the remote, and it has 5 speed settings, I believe. Battery life is good on the unit and the remote.

How does it communicate with the camera for tracking? Wifi, Bluetooth?
@DigitalOutdoors
@DigitalOutdoors 6 ай бұрын
The camera just sits on top of the unit. There's no real communication between the two. There's an onboard camera/sensor on the unit that tracks you and basically takes the camera for a ride.

I had the YT 1200. I sent it back a couple of days later. The motor was so loud the recorded footage was not usable. I then purchased the OlyCelotti. You can still hear the motor but not as loud and not tracking option. And the footage was shaky. I guess the saying is true. You get what you pay for.

i been searching something similar. its quite close to what i look for. jitter is a big concern & exactly what you showed is what i wanted to test. now its confirmed it has jitter. but still it can be due to camera load as well. perhaps a gopro / phone can be less jittery & smooth. post smoothing is too much work but… the jitter could be motor/ belt drive/ spinner tooth or software bug only the company can tell that but super difficult to reach them out. inc ase if you got their contact please comment. lets check for their update if any.

I have a wireless remote for my camera but I would assume this is for a wired remote that you plug into the motorized unit rather than your camera so it doesn't get tangled up? They sell the wired remotes on Amazon for all different cameras.

When I built a DIY astro tracker for the 2017 eclipse out of scrap wood and a door hinge, morning of the event I used a rubber band to maintain tension from the lens to the mount, to avoid that "jump" when the rig tilted past the balance point due to the gear lash (visible in this video). Does the "spring-loaded" feature appear to be such a workaround?
