In today's video, I find rare fish LIVING in mud holes! I go back to one of my favorite spots where I catch exotic fish, but this time I came across mysterious holes FILLED with fish! After we placed our fish traps in a hidden tunnel we stuck our hands in these deep mud holes and ended up pulling out some crazy stuff including royal plecos, eels, cichlids, blue crawfish, catfish, AND MORE! We also came across dead fish inside the holes so we had to try our best to catch out and save as many fish as possible! We brought back all of the rare fish we caught and put them in our quarantine pond before we checked our fish traps and caught TONS of crazy fish! Should we go back and do a part 2?

The more we get to know Helen, the more I like her. Also she's a total badass for going into the Everglades for 24 hours, stomping around in mud with you, and cast netting that fish trap on her first try. That said, you should definitely buy her a nice pair of wading boots since she's following you into mud and gross water all the time!

The fish with the long tail which was in your girlfriend's net was a whiptail catfish. There's a solid market for them in the aquarium fish trade. They will help keep the bottom of your tank clean of algae and excess food. If you come across one of those again, it should definitely be a keeper. They don't get very big, so you'll probably want to keep it in one of your indoor aquariums. They're both plant friendly, and non-aggressive, and will play nice with even pigmy corys.

The thing is that you get freaked with the all the other things like spiders, gators and snakes. Then you stick your unprotected hand hand into those cloudy dirty holes with no problem. I don’t get scared of much, but no way am I putting my hands in there. Bobby, you make these videos so darn enjoyable.

I’m no fish expert but I pretty sure the blue crawfish was the rarest find. It’s about 1 in 10,000 chance so you got very lucky to catch 4! I suggest to breed em to make baby crawfish
@madrigus_4468
@madrigus_4468 10 ай бұрын
This may be confusing but what he caught was a bunch of electric blue crawfish The rare blue crawfish is just a normal crawfish that has a genetic mutation that makes it a 1/10,000 chance but don’t take my comment too serious because you are probably better off doing your own research

Both muskrats and beavers will build holes in banks like that. I'm pretty sure you don't have beavers in Florida, but muskrats are numerous there. Though muskrats are not good for infrastructure, they are very good for aquatic animals, as the lower part of the holes are a good refuge in dry weather, and a good place to hide from bigger fish in higher weather. Muskrat holes will usually go down at first, but further back into the bank, they will go back up and there will be a central "room" which is high and dry. Burrows like that keep the predators out. Muskrat burrows will also frequently have more than one way in/out. Therefore, all the holes on once side of the bank might all lead to the same den. Also, muskrats are somewhat communal, so where you find one muskrat den there will often be several others in the same area. In marshes muskrats usually build their lodges out of reeds, stacking them up in a mound. The lodges in marshes make excellent nesting platforms for geese, ducks, grebes, loons, swans, and many other birds. Many people think of muskrats as being a pest or nuisance animal, and try to trap or kill them. The eggs you found look like eastern newt eggs, though there are also a few species of frog which lay eggs in chains like that, rather than in clusters. They are not fish eggs though.

The fish that looks like a tarpon; Chalceus is a genus of fish that inhabits freshwater habitats in South America. Members can be found in the Amazon and Orinoco basins, as well as in the Guianas and various tributaries of the former. It is the sole representative of the family Chalceidae.

so it looks like that pleco has Columnaris -- you treat with methylene blue, copper sulfate, potassium permanganate, aquarium salt (not all at once)-- salt baths are really good for treating this, and you want to have the fish indoors with the tank unheated to around 75F/24C. Good luck!

I know this video is a bit old, but no worries about that spider you found being a recluse! Recluse spiders aren't native to or fully introduced in Florida, they've only been found in a few sites and just about all of those sites have been storage units, areas where import trucks station, or houses/ house foundations near those places! They really are reclusive and don't spread out once they accidentally come over on trucks! And if you were in an area known to have recluse spiders, they tend to make their homes near the ground in dryer areas, you won't find them in canal tunnels like this one. :) And even if you were to encounter a recluse spider, they're incredibly skittish and non-confrontational! In a study I was a part of, we agitated recluse spiders in an attempt to get them to bite, and they very rarely bit unless directly smushed with our probe! Even then, they much more readily performed autotomy (intentional severing of their own legs as a distraction) than bit! Love your videos, and love the healthy caution you treat wildlife with!

Another awesome video. Great job Helen at throwing the cast net. I think it would be awesome to see another mud hole video. I also think Helen won the fish trap even though you caught all those eels. ❤
