This is a response to a comment regarding me mentioning being "Puerto Rican". I felt that with all of the comments being made about it, my thoughts on it should be pinned. Thank you all again for all of your kind words. " icilmaa yes actually I do. But tell that to John and Sally when they ask what I'm mixed with. People don't want to know my genetic make-up down to specifics. They really just want an answer so they can go on about their day. And guess what - I'm quite positive they will accept it I realize that PuertoRican is not a race/ ethnicity. To me it's a culture and a nationality - one I don't identify with. So, I don't feel comfortable mentioning "Puerto Rican" at all and I don't. "

Puerto rican is an ethnicity. The average Puerto rican is a mixture, in varying degrees, European, black, native, and sometimes jewish. You don't look " black " in the african American sense. You look arab or afro Arab. Be proud to be mixed race and dont follow the racist one drop rule that basically teaches black blood is a tain%t and inferio@r. Hence 1 drop taints the blood and the child assumes the inferio%r parents stock. Its so racist and i cant believe black Americans and many Americans in general follow this evil racial law from jim crow.

Hi, your Mother must be a remarkable woman to instill such strength and resilience in you. You could call the Phoenix police and fax them your mother and your birth certificates, then give them the go on recovering your DNA bar code. Then he will be held responsible for his crime. I wish you & yourz peace and love. Great job on your video.

I've watched a number of these DNA videos. Your's was the most moving. Thank you for sharing something so personal. Truth be told there are many of us who have "uncertain paternity" events in our bloodlines. Yours is more recent. I'm sorry the sister that you reached out to did not deal with you more forthrightly. She has probably developed mechanisms to deal with the shame associated with her brothers actions. I'd be willing to bet that their are others in that side of your family origins that would be more compassionate. You are a beautiful person inside and out, and an example of mercy and maturity. Just to be able to deal with this whole issue in such a balanced way is really great. I am glad you got some peace in the knowledge of what really has happened. You should consider finding an avenue to share with others that have a similar history, you could be a real encouragement to them, and it would bring further healing to you as well.

So, sad that his family couldn't accept you, as you are, their loss. I'm glad you found him, now you can put that part of your history to rest, and even though his family wasn't ready to accept you, at least you know where they are, and who they are for your children's sake. Thank you for being brave enough to share your story with us perfect strangers. I will definitely keep you and your Mom in my prayers, and I have to pray, for the people who left a thumbs down, because something is really wrong with them.

You are a hero in my eyes! To be able to be so public with the circumstances around your conception, and to be able to critically analyze how you want to integrate that information from your DNA test into your life and your perception of who you are, is admirable! I am in awe (and you are the first DNA result KZfaq, of the many I've watched, on which I've commented) of you and your ability to record such an honest video!

Just to allay your feelings about inheriting his tendencies... predation is learned not inherited. He grew up in an environment that probably sexualized him at an early age. As an example - one of Canada's worst sex offenders was molested by an uncle. It probably a good thing that your children will not meet up with that side of the family.

Life & Crew You deserve to know the truth. It's your absolute right to know your ethnicity, own it. They have to live with themselves defending his behavior, you are a strong beautiful woman regardless, in spite of him. Your mom gave you everything you have; tendencies like his are learned, not inherited. They don't deserve a relationship with you if you're not offering it but especially if they refuse to acknowledge how you came to be related to them. Ugh. Denial is such an ugly thing. Your mom is a strong lady, as a mom myself I admire her strength so very much. And yours too, she taught you well.

This was interesting to watch. Especially given the circumstances. I commend you for posting such a personal video. I'm glad that you are at least able to narrow it down. Although you don't want to have a relationship with that side of your family, it would be good to at least get as much ancestry info from them that you can so you can make your own family tree and pass that down to your children. This is the kind of info that gets lost and stumps people generations later who want to uncover the truth. GOD bless!

How amazing to discover the answer to that mystery! I am glad your mother gave you a good life and you are very grounded and a delightful young wife and mother. Good job to your Mom. She has had to deal with a terrible experience/memory and I am sure still does. She could have aborted you and tried to forget and go on with her life, but she didn't. She did the noble thing, the heroic thing, the Godly thing - in loving you and rearing you to be a good person. She took a toxic destructive blow and turned it into such a beautiful jewel, a treasure. I am glad you can see where your features come from - and have validation there. A sperm is NOT a father. There is nothing there to follow up on. You are wise to close that door and end that chapter as it will go nowhere. Thanks for sharing your story. Best wishes.

You have such a good attitude to dealing with this and connecting to your biological father's family....you know your identity is with your mum and her side of your family. Your mum's love has made you who you are today. She is a very courageous woman. You can rightfully claim and explore the cultural heritage from his side of your tree without identifying with him or his immediate family. He has brought shame to his ancestors but you and your children will only bring pride. You have given your mum justice by uncovering the identity of her perpetrator. I honour you for that.

As far as things being passed on to your children.... you are a decent person aren't you? I don't think just because our parents or someone in our family is a bad person that we will be. Give them lots of love and guidance and they will be fine. It's your influence on them that will in a big way help them to become who they are, that will help them to be good people. There are indigenous Puerto Ricans-Tainos. And a genetic marker for them I believe because it is an area they identify a lot. Ashkenazi Jew is also listed as well as certain areas that include multiple DNA markers...They do the beat they can with what they have...But clearly Puerto Tico has a massive mix of DNAs from the slave trade era-Africans of all types-mostly west African-Spanish-English...Taino...mixed!

Thank you for sharing your story, I love your courage and curiosity that led you to investigate the crime against your mom. I believe this kind of "sleuthing" as well as DNA testing will catch many sexual criminals in the future. Something you said caught my attention. You mentioned the man who attacked your mom ended up in AZ, and I remembered that there was a documentary (maybe 10-15 yrs ago) that exposed the fact that the US prison system was shipping hundreds of sex offenders to this one tiny border town in Arizona upon their release, I guess because of a computer error. Anyway, these predators were sneaking across the border into Mexico at night and attacking all these poor factory workers (even killing many of them) and sneaking back. After all these girls went missing this Mexican journalist investigated and she made a documentary - which forced the US to change its system. I don't know if this applies to "Alejandro" or not, but perhaps it will help you as you search for more pieces to the puzzle, if you continue.

Karin Wilson wow. That’s some documentary. I’m interested in watching it. What happened with the inmates? Did they keep them all there in AZ and get stricter policies? Or did they relocate the inmates?

This video is really inspiring me to get the test done and find my fathers family. He was murdered when I was young and I only know his maternal side. I’m glad to see that you don’t try and hide your story that’s what makes this video so special!

Wow. What did your mom say when you find the guy? Your story actually touched me. I know it wasn't easy , but thank you for sharing your story. I'm sorry that happened to your mom and that it is a part of your life. I'm only looking at this from the outside so I don't personally know your story, but I hope you and your mom both have good lives and are at better places. Sending peace to you and your family.

Girl, you turned out well and tell your mom that she and her family are responsible for raising somone/you, who from all appearances, is a balanced young lady who is leading a focused life (school, wife, work, mother). Tell your mom that I pray she finds peace and that she may consider therapy for the trauma she is still experiencing. Clearly, she is affected by post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Thank you for speaking openly and sharing your story. It is too bad that even now he is being enabled and sheltered by his family. Their loss as they could have handled this much better by acknowledging you and the circumstance. Their loss. Peace and Blessings to you, your mom and your family. May the God of your understanding continue to keep a hedge of protection around you and continue to heap blessings upon you.

My half aunt came up as a 1st cousin match at 1022Cm(how I found BF family). There are charts that show centimorgan ratios to determine if someone is more closely related by the # of CM across however many segments of DNA you share.

Interesting story...never knew my father...knew who he was, never met him though. A decade ago I started building that side of my tree... Through that process it was like I got to know them a little with having to meet them. In my case, being as old as I am now, why stir the pot? :) Couple of bad eggs in that part of the tree too...crazy people! That one guy burned down the family house three times! When he was going for the fourth, his brother caught him in the act and shot him...LOL Didn't kill him though...this is like back in 1890 or something...Another guy came back from Vietnam and never said another word the rest of his life... So, yeah, I'm hoping I didn't get any of that too...:) Thanks for the story! oh..p.s. I see it's been a while since you posted this, but alot of the time those areas you mention, the DNA is there because those same people were migrating across so to speak..and some would stay while other moved on...When you were mentioning Greece/Italy...and another I was thinking Sicilian (Mafia)..:) But I think you mentioned Iberian Peninsula also? So you can kind see how they are starting out in one place and skipping across...and ending up in Puerto Rico... If you wanted to go futher you'd probably want a mtDNA test...(Ancestry is an autosomnal test) The mtDNA will tell you your straight line maternal ancestors, mother to mother on up the tree...the Mile Y-DNA test works the same for men. What I'm getting at is you could subtract the mtDNA out of the autosomnal test and get a fairly decent idea of your paternal straight-line ancestors...and know for sure which side the Asian is on, unless both...something like that. They got calculators now that help you do that...:) Anyway, thanks again..:)

You look East African, I'm sure you have that Ancestry if you perhaps did GEDmatch for more details
@SundusAbdi99
@SundusAbdi99 7 жыл бұрын
I highly doubt that. East Africans, or people from the horn of africa(Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia), are very homogenous people. If anyone is partially East(horn) African its most probably a recent mixture, as they generally tend to intermarry amongst themselves, and have only recent moved to other countries other than their own. They have their own Ethio-somal DNA that Ancestry DNA doesn't show (but other companies like 23andme do), with varying middle eastern and north african dna. Slave trade in the east generally took place in the Arab slave trade, many people being taken from south-western Ethiopia, South Sudan and neighbouring regions then sold as slaves in Arabia. As you most probably know, the Arab slave trade started way before and lasted much longer than western slavery, and those people sold as slaves in the middle east probably had high South-Eastern Bantu dna, as opposed to the more common West African dna African Americans generally tend to have. If you're interested, you should look into it more, it's quite complicated and not as simple as other genetics, as there are a lot more theories as to who's who and where'd they come from, and a lot less information out there and studies done. :)

Sunny A Definitely It all can be debated. But i think their dna is most common in that region of africa. I got some small percent from the Horn of Africa. Mainly because intermixture from middle east and north africa. But some east african also get middle eastern

Cool, did which company did you use? I think Ancestry isn't very reliable when it comes to pinpointing the differences with many different ethnicities besides european and west african ancestry. Its all very vague. People from the horn tend to have some north african dna, (assuming you're north african) I'm not surprised you've got a little horn/east/whatever you'd like to call it dna in you :)

Thank you so so much for posting this!! I just got my Ancestry results back and I also do not know who my biological father is - I hope I can find out who my father is as well. I feel stuck already though! How did you get the tree to lead to him!? Did you know who all the people from your mom's side were to "eliminate" them? You are brave to post your story but thank you! I am working on my KZfaq video journey too ❤️

Intelligent if that were a Race, it would be You. I Love the Way that You are So calm, collected and can sort through the (mixed nuts) & being a driving force. Everyone has to come to terms, the best way that they know how. For Me if I were you (just saying) for further Peace of Mine (& if you have the Resources). I'd go to Court and drag his COVERING UP family into this. I know that his doesn't sound positive and you may NOT be there NOW. I'd cover all the basis, just in case down the line, in the Future, that you some hidden, laden, suppress emotions that are "laying in wait". It may be for Your Mothers sake. Am Speaking from the perspective, that if & when his Family dies, without facing Their (cover up) truth? Going to Their Graves, feeling Safe! I don't FEEL that they have the Right in Ignoring his CRIMES, in Sanitizing Their History. (not so much addressing their blood line) But Their History at YOURS and Your Moms expense. There are Statue of Limitations. There are still Subpoena's & Other Orders that can be done, in making His Family into Complying, if anything as "Aiding & Abetting". Your family should not suffer without Justice. And that Justice is....Compelling this to Surface, knowing that You & Your Mom were WRONG! IF I had a Daughter, I"d want her to be like you.....Choices. Its all in Choices. Good Luck. Continue a Good Life in Keeping The Faith~
