I want you to know how much I appreciate you and your channel. We have been a long-term cyclist with my wife and family. 30+ years . My wife and I have a road bikes (specialized Roubaix and ruby), gravel bikes (salsa cutthroats), e-gravel bike’s (Kona, libre el) and a custom Rodriguez tandem. I have been fighting stage 4 prostate cancer with metastasis to the bones for the last 2+ years. I can no longer ride an upright diamond frame bike. If I were to fall they say I would have a fracture of the bones and most likely have paralysis. I ordered a recumbent trike and it should arrive today. Even though I can’t do the rides you guys do, I find it motivating to watch your videos. It motivates me to want to get out and ride the trike and be outside. It puts a smile on my face . I just wanted you guys to know you were making a difference even in a situation like this. Thank you for your fun, laughter, adventures, etc. any words of encouragement would be appreciated. Thank you again for your content and your fun.

I like how gravel bikes started off as an alternative to MTBs, then they ditched 2x drivetrains, then they got fatter tires, droppers, front shox and now even an MTB geometry is a plus (4:07). Just put a straight handlebar on it and admit your mistake lol

"I found your next gravel bike... if you're stinking rich!" This thing is freaking $7000 USD in the spec you're riding. That's about $6000 more than my current already more than capable gravel bike, and is well, well out of reach for any but the wealthiest cyclists or KZfaqrs who get bikes for free.
@harrie205

If the ability to buy a 7k bike makes you rich than there are many rich people around. SC Analyses the marked before development and know what and how many potential customers are able and willing to spend. So saying it’s for rich/wealthy folks is bluntly wrong.
@radcity22

It's actually over $8k for the model he's riding if you buy and include tax. But you're right. Bikes nowadays are ridiculously overpriced. It's just a 90s mountain bike rebranded for more money. The majority of people can't afford these bikes or some people have to sacrifice a lot in order to get one. It's sad the industry went into that direction especially since majority of the population are simple people who just want to ride and not have to go finance a bike.

Wow, that bike really does come close to solving the "one bike fits all" equation! The only deal-breaker for me is; The seat tube doesn't seem to have a mount for a front derailleur. I get that with saddle that's a part of the bike that will never fit all. This is why they often ft them with cheap ones. History of the Ruby. There was once a road race fork from Rockshox called "Ruby". It was basically a reduced travel version of the MAG 20/21. As Rockshox always plays on words with their models; It's a Ruby with the MTB Judy = Ruby. Both both are historic forks and if I'm right? The Ruby borrows a lot of it's tech from the Judy. A good all round and easy adjustable fork. IMO. Great to see Ron back on the team! Ron's routes always RULE! Dustin's Videos are artistic, aesthetic, creative, dramatic, imaginative, and musical. Also unquestionably rule! Ever!

Loooove the Rudy histrionic break down. I do know this bike comes in 2x build options so there’s some kind of front derailleur set up that works on there. Thank you for the positive words Neil you are always uplifting and for that I am appreciative. 🤜🤛

YT Szepter is another bike that's very similar to this (and a bit more affordable in the EU). I agree about the suspension fork, if you're just riding for the fun of it, it's a must have. I'm not sure about the dropper post. You have to drop it a couple mm to activate the air spring, so you're trading correct seat height for a bit of cushion. A fixed carbon seatpost would provide extra cushion at the correct seat height.
@Simon-unterwegs
@Simon-unterwegs Жыл бұрын
You just have to drop it super slightly. I just put the post in these few mm higher then I would need to. But also this is 2-3 mm which you also vary by choosing old bib shorts vs new ones.

Suspended forks (and seatposts) are not made for adventure because of need for maintenance and risk of mechanical failure... Suspended fork are for racing and very technical stuff. Are you not aware of the reliability of droppers and suspension forks on mtbs for the past few decades? I think Santa Cruz knows what they are doing with this spec and wouldn’t be concerned with the reliability of these two parts.

I just restomoded a Cannondale f800sl with grx 400 and 650b . Shame I can't post a photo. Cost less than a thousand bucks and weighs 10.5 kg with 80mm of Sus travel !! It's one shit hot ride.

Would you trust those carbon seat-stays with an aeroe rack? I would love to see the xxl size of this frame if anybody has one, they tend to always ruin the look of the bigger sizes with massive steerer tubes.

If I had some good protective tape on the seatstays, maybe, but probably not. Something that's thru axle-mounted like a Tailfin is a far better option IMO.

Awesome video, as always! What do you think of the Reserve wheels relative to other carbon wheels you've ridden? I'm pretty sold on the Stigmata, just considering the build options now and that Force 2x Reserve option is so damn tempting - not sure it's in the "working class athlete" category though 😂
