I got my Tech Disc around the new year and have been putting in lots of work to improve my stats. Last month proved super valuable and this month I was looking to break 62 mph arm speed and keep decreasing my nose angle. Let's see how the month of training went!
Spoiler, I went out to a field shortly after this video and was able to hit 447'... This product was worth every penny 😁

Totally agree that TechDisc is a great tool to provide valuable information as to what your throws are doing. As you mentioned, it provides the data, but you will need to figure out how to adjust your throw/form/technique to adjust the numbers to be more inline with what are considered "ideal". i.e. Nose Down, Launch Angle, Speed and Spin. I have only thrown my Techdisc about 200 times (loaned it to a friend for the last couple of weeks), but it has honestly helped me get more distance and throw more nose-down. I am nowhere near where I want to be, but I think TechDisc is helping me understand what is happening. I just need to make the form/timing changes to dial in the numbers.. It is a lot of work but also a lot of fun especially when you see the effects on the course. I have birdied 2 holes on my local course that I have always been happy with pars on before. Excited to be on the journey..

Amazing! That's the thing, it's not gonna give you the secrets of the universe but it seems that just throwing the tech disc and making adjustments based on what you see works for most people. Glad you're seeing improvement 🎉

Great video! Glad to see you've reached a point where you can really start ironing in the reps, and work on other things like skills, getting better aiming, etc.

Exactly! It’s a good place to be. Going out to the course I was able to get my throws straight but now I gotta figure out how all my discs fly again and shot shapes with the bit of extra distance!

Hey! Just found this video and gave it a watch. You are saying the angles for nose and launch evens out, the nose angle is always better at a minus and the launch angle as high as the wind lets it be without stalling it as IF thrown nose up (nose+launch=5=not always good, eg 4 nose and 1% launch sounds like an airbounce, but I dont know!) from my understanding. I get is a simplified way of saying this is great compared to before and needs just a bit of fixing. Great progress! Will look to your other videos now for another fix ^_^

Hey! Thanks for watching! For sure, I said they equal each other out but to an extent ha! If you throw down with a nose up that will definitely be an air bounce but when the nose is closer to 0 degrees then the air bounce gets less and less noticeable and works but will ultimately still kill your distance. But yes overall for max distance lines you want approximately -4 nose angle and as high as 14 launch depending on if you throw as hard as Anthony Barela or not haha!

I see in the video description that you said the TechDisc is worth every penny but I was hoping you could tell me how you used it to improve your form and distance? I’ve been really debating on forking out the $300 for one but I’m worried that I won’t know how to interpret the data to make meaningful form changes, if that makes sense. I have to admit this is the first video of yours I watched but I did subscribe to the channel and plan to watch your other TechDisc videos in hopes you already answer my question above. Thanks in advance!

Yeah for sure! There wasn't a whole lot to it. Basically understanding what preferable numbers are. For example, optimal nose angle for a max distance shot is -4 degrees. Not every shot needs to do that but if you can get closer to that then you're on the right path. With my goals in mind I basically just started throwing a ton! Within the span of the 2 months or so I filmed the series in I threw over 2000 throws. I paired trial and error with the vast collection of "throw further" videos on KZfaq to slowly work my way closer to my goals. Basically, find out what each number means, figure out approximately where you wanna be, and then throw a ton! You change something and your nose angle gets better keep it, you try something else and your arm speed goes up keep it. Lots of trial and error and I do note In the videos that if you wanna use the tool effectively you need to be investing the time. If you are doing trial and error paired with your own researed and time the tech disc will definitely improve your game! That was super long winded. Hope it helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.

@@dan.dupreezdiscgolf thanks so much for the quick reply with tons of info! I’ve been playing disc golf A LOT for about 6 years, but only on a casual level, no leagues or tournaments because I can’t even throw 300 feet. I can’t figure out bracing. If I’m not playing disc golf I’m watching videos about it and sometimes I think it does me a disservice because I’m getting so much conflicting info, such as “you need to pull (arm) the disc” or the direct opposite, “you don’t pull at all, your arm slings the disc out because of your hip/shoulder rotation”. I’ve never felt “snap” and I don’t know how to. Just afraid I’d spend $300 and that’s not the help I need. I play or do field work every single day it doesn’t rain. For rainy/snowy days, I have a net in my basement along with an Innova DiscCatcher Pro and a 40’ clean line of putting distance in the basement too. I mention those things only to say that I have other tools and am not at all afraid to put in the work, I just feel that all I do is continue to reinforce bad habits and muscle memory because I don’t know what it is I should be actually changing to improve. I often feel defeated and don’t want to play or practice because I feel “what’s the point in practicing when I don’t know what or how to change to improve?”. 😕

@@dan.dupreezdiscgolf I also forgot to mention that I’m a bigger guy myself and thought that was a reason for my inability to not “be explosive”, but you are VERY explosive and fast when “pulling the disc” the through so I clearly can’t blame that on size. I just don’t feel like I’m doing ANYTHING correctly, EVER, because almost every shot I take off the tee just hyzers out after 200 feet, if that… 🤬😭

I noticed you went from 3 to 4 grunts in the first two videos while collecting your data. You've skewed my research on Grunts=Distance by editing your grunts out of this video... Please Advise

😂 sorry for the conflicting data! Here’s my explanation. You’re told to visualize your line before your throw? Same thing for the grunt! However max power grunts are not acceptable in our society and thus my grunts must stay mostly visualized not actualized. Due to the unacceptable nature of grunts, more grunts = less support and therefore worse throws! Hope this helps 👨‍🔬🔬
