Reminds me of a family car trip with my chronically colourblind dad driving. Stuck in a motorway traffic jam, he thought he'd lighten the mood when he let out: look' there's a another car the same as ours! We looked and looked but couldn't see it. We were in a pastel green Mk4 Ford Cortina. The car he saw was a pale red Honda.

@@christopherweise438 'quit talking start looking' Does that work for you, when you're aware you've got a corrupted description of something you have to find? To the bad fire with using communication skills, just shut up and try to look like you know what you're looking for. How an offroad recovery and towing company showing on KZfaq does it, right. You expect Jaymie to be impressed, by you being offensive toward her highly successful entrepreneur husband?

One time I took a (roadside company) call and I was looking for a 1974 Mercury-Lincoln waaaaaaaay out in the sticks that had called for a flat tire and winch out. I'm thinking to myself why and how would a Mercury be way off the road... I spotted a Pantera stopped on the side of the road like if they ran out of fuel. Knowing damn well my call-takers got "the dumbs", I pulled over and asked the driver his name and if he called (a roadside company) for help. Yup, wrong car, wrong color, wrong t-code, and wrong location. I told the customer how all my info was wrong and the wife asked why I stopped with them. I said my ears are to the streets, I know these things. 😂 Plus I know Panteras were sold at Mercury and Lincoln dealerships and probably somehow that was put into the details. They just needed fuel. Pay call takers peanuts and you get peanuts-worth work. No offense to Jamie. I'm referring strictly to some out in Ogden that will remain nameless. 😁

@NBSV1
@NBSV1 2 жыл бұрын
Reasonably light weight, lockers/welded diff, a proper transfer case, and a bit of sense. Usually the modern stuff has open diffs or a weak limited slip, sometimes a weird torque split thing over a big transfer case, and drivers that think it’s way more capable than it is. And, most people seem to go for a lift kit, big wheels/tires, and stuff to look cool before they bother with stuff that would actually help offroad.

You may get info like the car is a Chevy Mustang, or they are on 1st st with the cross road of 2nd st which never intersect. You can also get people saying they are in a town that is 30 miles away because they aren't from the area but that was the town name on the highway sign they just passed.

Love seeing the dogs; when I was still farming my Border Collie, Abbie, would climb up on the platform of the 3010 and 4020 just to go wherever I went. She would ride with me for a while and then poke my arm with her nose when she wanted to get off to stretch her legs. I was feeding fat cattle from wooden bunks and she would sit at the gate and just "accidentally" let 2 or 3 escape just so she could round them up and get them back in. She would impatiently but dutifully sit and wait for my command to "Go get them", her eyes darting back and forth from me to the escaped cattle. As soon as she heard the command, off she would go, bringing her asylum-seeking charges. She did it every day, I miss it. If I needed the cattle up in the yard, all I had to do was say, "Bring em up", and in 5 - 10 minutes she would have them in the yard. I will never forget the time I had a cow refuse to go through a 16 foot gate and Abbie latched on to her nose, between the nostrils and the cow swung her around, trying to free herself and the look of sheer determination on the dog's face to not let go. When the cow stopped, Abbie let go, the cow shook her head at the dog and walked through the gate. Don't stop bringing the dogs.

Matt is such an eager and enthusiastic teacher, sharing everything he knows, openly and without condition - "Come 'ere, lemme show ya how to do this." Running up the whole way up the slickrock face to spot for Jamie, for instance. He's a master delegator and everyone around him is better for it. Teaching Lizzy to become a proficient weldor will open doors for the rest of her life. 👍 "Knowledge is useless unless it's shared." His carefree, childish take on life is refreshing and funny. (we're basically children, so Jamie is stopping for gas, unlike myself. ROFL) That personality really shone in this video. 😂

Hi Matt! Hello to all! We sure do like your videos, thanks for doing them. Among the things that we appreciate are that they're darn near real time, they're clean, and they show life in its normalcy (well, as much as you can). I'm disabled and my lovely bride Julie is a nurse and works her tail off (really, she has none) so that I can have as much of life as I can. When we were dating we went to Pigeon Forge so I'm thinking of you and where you're at wishing we were there. We've got vacation next week that will spend on our boat at Pickstown, South Dakota for a few days and then down to Pioneer Village at Minden, Nebraska. My project to complete before we go is for our Veterans Memorial where I'm placing the footings for two bronze sculptures. I bought a welder from Harbor Freight and this is my first stab at it. I've gained a lot from watching your fabrication. Thank you. Hope to see some time and do the weather 😀.

Roadside is the worst. I lost count years ago how many times I have been given the wrong pick up location, the wrong vehicle, even the wrong state. Every tow/ recovery is a mystery untill you lay eyes on it for sure. That's why it's equally important for customers to answer the phones when they call for a service. Your good Matt. We in the business understand.

You know, odd. I just helped pull a humvee back to the dealership in St. George. It was exactly the same as this one, but painted green. It even had damage in the exact same spot on the front left fender. A couple was out test driving it--it would run, but when they put it in drive, it would stall... I'd bet money on this being that same Humvee.

Matt you look more like Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top with those sun glasses on. The Tangerine did great pulling that big heavy Humvee. Those XJ's, even stock, are something else off road. George's Jeep engine sounds great. Almost as throaty as the Morvair. That must be one of the jeeps with the big block V-8. Love the Pintle hitch view on the recovery.

Jamie, what a pro recovery specialist! You pulled out that Hummer (even with Matt messing with you) and you pulled out the Subbie (which may have had another Matt problem because it sure pulled hard) for two recoveries. And Matt still made it to the airport. Oh I thought that kiss from Matt for your great recovery skills was on the mark. You deserved it plus maybe a gift when he comes home as well would be in order Matt. Great job team and be safe.

I know you won't see this among 1500 other comments. However, you and Fabs and Robbie and others have got my imagination running hard. I have a RWD ute/truck with a V6 4.0l SOHC Ford motor. I had this little idea that is probably more expensive and complicated than just buying a 4WD but I thought, how complicated would it be to have a pivoted 'lazy axle' with smaller tyres on it that could be lowered hydraulically as a unit behind the rear drive wheels, then have a set of rubber tracks that can be fitted to the drive and lazy wheels, and operate as a rear-tracked vehicle...imagine those 4WDs that the railways use to drive along outback railway lines. They have lazy railway wheels that are lowered onto the tracks and the drive tyres sit 'on' the tracks, providing the drive and traction. A similar setup to that but with hydraulic rams to extend the lazy wheels to tension the tracks.

Trying to solve the Morvair’s profitability by staying off the trailer to calls. Highway & off highway, requires two solutions , air up/down system, then Grovable , tires, stay with hi-way tread on the 3 inter tread, ( at Highway pressure) then grove the outer treads inter/outer for low pressure lugs. This keeps the Morvare off trailer and more profitable. Also does wonders to cut tire noise to a minimum when aired up to highway pressure . Lower cost$.
