@@vivianpratte Why are you shocked? It makes you look gorgeous! Youve truly found your hairstyle here if you ask me (everyone has a hairstyle that works best for them). Before you know it you will hav got used to it and you will find yourself re-perming it every 4 months for the next 20 years - just you watch! You never know, you might even get daring enough to go a bit tighter still on the curls - your one of the few people that could actually pull that off if you wanted - seriously! I like the idea of hi-lights that was mentioned in one of the other comments as well. i agree that very light blond mixed with natural brown (probably 50/50) done with a cap would take you to the next level. Do it!

What drives me nuts as a professional is the lack of hair dressers doing follow ups and a thorough consultation. Perm design is becoming a lost art but I am trying to teach others. I charge a lot for a perm but it includes a style session since many don’t know proper styling myself included at one point. Also the chemical used matters. Your perm was most likely a cold wave because they make ultra firm curls. Others use thio free solutions (my favorite) they produce medium curls and others like the acid waves are soft curls. Styling for a perm I find many ladies love to use serum, leave in conditioner and a light spray gel

@@vivianpratte There's no need to be nervous. You were nervous before getting the perm in this video, but I bet you couldn't imagine ever going back to straight hair now! The same will happen when you get a tighter perm - believe me! Just scale all the rods in this video down by one size, and the result will be fabulous!

Red color is often good, but in this case i agree with ikkabod wu's comment about fine light blond hi-lights mixed with natural brown. i think this would work better at making the curls really stand out, and would really bring out her beautiful eyes. Blond cap hi-lights done well look more natural than red imo

@@vivianpratte I watched the follow-up vid a few months ago but am also interested how it looks now after a few months and wud find a second follow-up vid interesting if you made one! Tight curls suit you better than loose I think. So you did decide to do highlights with your next perm then. I think this is gud as lighter hair will suit your complexion.

@@vivianpratte You're welcome, just speaking the truth as I see it - the tighter curls suit you and look really good on you! Perhaps you could make a video getting your highlights done? I think cap highlights would work best as the smaller sections that are pulled through the cap blend in better with the remaining unhighlighted hair to give a more even look than foils. Really light blonde contrasted with your natural brown would look awesome with those curls.

@@vivianpratte I've found this video that you might find interesting and helpful. Though the model has (boring) straight hair, it demonstrates how the cap technique achieves a fine and even blend of very light blonde and natural brown. I think this would actually work better on you as the fine, evenly-distributed high contrast colors would really show off the 3-dimensional texture and depth that your perm curls now give you. Personally, I think that very light (white) blonde would work best on you, but you could always opt for a warmer light tone. You can also vary the ratio of blonde to brown to suit by pulling more or less strands of hair through the cap. I think somewhere near half and half should work well for you. @@vivianpratte I think tighter curls suit you better - especially if your hair is shorter! Highlights are a great idea, and will let your curls reach their full potential! Are you doing cap or foils? I think cap will give better results on shorter hair with tighter curls! Will be really excited to watch your video in March!
