Lisa, I don’t imagine you’ll ever see this comment but I must share…coming back to this video, I am so touched by your deep, genuine appreciation not only for the artifact but for everything it represents. I am a musician and I once had the opportunity of being in the presence of a Beethoven manuscript in person, up-close, out of its underground vault (literally) in a nearly empty room except for the curator and a small group of musicians in the town and in the house where the composer was born and raised. I felt that exact energy you’re describing here. From the coffee and wine stains to the burns marks from when he knocked over a candle and the torn pages from when he couldn’t write his ideas down fast enough…it was as if the spirit of the composer had been released from within the cobalt blue velvet binding and he spoke directly to us as we observed the ink stained pages that his very hand had touched. It brought me to tears and the intensity of the experience has never left me. You, who have spent your life immersed in the world of makeup and it’s interplay with these great figures, have a spiritual connection that most people probably wouldn’t understand. It’s more than a lipstick. It’s more than an expensive designer case. These artifacts and the people who understand and appreciate them for their true value, keep the spirits alive of the extraordinary human beings to whom they belonged. For some people a collection is about owning scores of expensive things. It is abundantly clear that for you, that is not the case. Whatever amount you spent could never be called a frivolity. In fact your monetary sacrifice has allowed for this item of great human value to be kept safe and for the spirit that it represents to stay alive in the most honorable way. Even if you never tell the true shade, please - I'd love to see you create a lipstick line dedicated to the classics; a Marilyn, Audrey, a Greta, Clara Bow..only you could truly create shades true to the formulas and shades the iconic ladies of old Hollywood used. I think there is already someone who has done this (maybe Vintage Doll Cosmetics?) I would have to double check to be sure, but she has three lipsticks, one being Sharon Tate, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor that you can order.

I’ve been a bit obsessed with Audrey’s makeup style lately and I’ve done some research on the closest possible dupes for this shade. I’ve tried many shades from all sorts of brands attempting to replicate this look. I have to say the one lipstick I keep returning to is the Revlon Colorstay lipstick in the shade Pink In The Afternoon. Trust me, it’s a close match. It’s inexpensive and can be found at most drugstores. Hope this helps everyone out there looking for a dupe!

She specifically says it's not the brand start with R but I agree that's close. Wish the color with more salmon or almost orange tone for the pink in the after noon then it will look more like what lisa had on her lip in this video.

Coral is my FAVOURITE everyday colour, because I find it brightens up the face. In the winter, I use it as a stain and with some lipbalm on top so my lips look healthy and in the summer, I use it with gloss. My fave shade was a mac limited edition. I would buy this shade without question!

I had read that the lipstick was made by Estee Lauder, and because she is so iconic that was mentioned in an article that I read about her, and anybody that loves her always reads everything about her. Also I think they made that shade into the '80's but I don't know what it is. I love peachy shades and right now I am wearing ravishing by MAC which more peachy than peachy/pink. I think that energy you felt was Audrey being happy that someone appreciated that holder the way she did. I think she’d be glad to have someone get it who cares about it as an icon & would honor it as makeup history & not just put it up. It’s very cool. Thank you for sharing.
